I invite you to look at that premium pack screenshot again. When you think about it, it's all fluff.

This is why I think all the guys that didn't get the GT and instead got an EB premium are nuts.
You could just as easily call the performance package fluff. Most owners will never track their car and would be fine with the base brakes, and if you're going to race you're probably getting coilovers so the PP suspension upgrades are kind of a half-measure. 3.73 in a daily driver? And that torsen limited slip so you can make it to the liquor store before closing!

On the other hand, satellite radio and cooled seats would be taken full advantage of nearly every day.

I think you get more for the money with the PP but if you actually use the premium stuff more than the PP, it may still be a better value to you.

i agree, the cooled seats probably would be real nice in the summer months. but what do I know, i've never had them before, only heated seats.

in my last car, I actually had to tell sirius to cancel my subscription, since I never used it and use pandora which is free. i got tired of calling them every 3 months to cancel because they kept throwing in a free 3 months at a time every time i called to cancel the free trial.

What makes 3.73 so "crazy" in a DD? I'd rather have the extra dig for when I do track the car and shift a little quicker in traffic than not have it.

Base econo poor boy model with Perf Pack here. I actually preferred the base cloth seats over the cloth recaros, but everyone is different.
The only thing I don't like are the shitty speakers, but I will be changing them soon. The rest of this car is way better than my 12 premium was.

Obviously I don't have 3.73's, but I could imagine that that would be a real pain in highway cruising. In my old S197 I had a 2.73 final drive -- at a 55-60 mph highway cruise, the engine would be spinning about 1200 rpm, and it was glorious. Now the engine is always above 1500 rpm at highway speeds, sometimes as high as 2000 rpm when just cruising along, and I keep feeling like the engine is getting mad at me for abusing it so much. Where does the engine sit at 60 mph with 3.73's? Above 2000 rpm? I'd be terrified of taking it on any long highway cruises for fear of overtaxing the engine, letting it run that high for 20 straight hours with nothing but stops to fill up for gas.

I used the seat coolers this weekend because the interior of my car got hot from sitting out in the sun even though it was only like 55 degrees, and it was... weird. You DEFINITELY notice the cooling; it feels like you're sitting on an open refrigerator. It was just a really unusual feeling; I'm sure I felt similarly the first time I sat on heated seats.

I only miss the sirius in my base gt pp, and hopefully will be adding that soon. I figured out to press and hold for sport mode, how do you get to track mode in the base gt?

Are you sure about that? I've tried everything in my base GT PP just to see if I was missing something. I can tap the button once, twice, or hold it for 10 seconds and all it ever says is "traction control off."

Nothing else has ever happened.

And to Jimmy - cruising in the twisties for a loooong time, 3,000-4,500 is this things' bread and butter. I just leave it in 3rd or 4th and am anywhere from 40-80mph and I never feel leery in the least.

My local dealer has a "Poverty Spec" GT for $27,xxx and a GT/PP for $30,xxx. Very very tempting deals. Wish they had a GT with Recaros on the lot.

Fair point, if I was a bigger frame I would find the seat uncomfortable for sure.

It's not just frame -- I think those seats really only work with one body type. I'm not "big boned" by any stretch -- but I'm a little over 5'10", actually have slightly narrow-set shoulders, but I go to the climbing gym to climb (strong lats) , lift (current one rep max on bench is 230-240), and do yoga (muscular butt) or some combination of all of the above five times per week. I have the whole of Europe in my heritage, but I have more height in my torso than in my legs -- my legs are built for power, not speed, and my lower back has a lot of sway back in it -- and as cool as the Recaro's are, and as much as I want to be comfortable in them... If I'm to be honest with myself about it, THEY JUST AREN'T COMFORTABLE TO ME. Even if I track my car, I'm going to legitimately need a different seat than the optional Recaros. I don't think I will ever need much more than the standard seats -- they seemed to grip my butt and shoulders very well. I never felt like I was fully "in" the Recaro seats -- I found it a little unnerving.

It's nowhere near that bad -- at 2k or so, the engine is not being labored hard, and if you stick close to 60mph, you'll also see better than 30mpg -- seriously.

This whole thread has turned into "you don't like what I like so you're a fool". It's why Ford doesn't ship all Mustangs the same folks. It's why you can choose or not choose options. Hell, it's even why they sell different models of cars. AND there are even other brands of cars. What an idea!
