I am thinking of a base manual GT with GT performance package, recaro seat, and maybe just adding the reverse sensing system, depending how bad is the rear view. I drove the 2.3 a couple months back as the owner had not let people drive the GT. So, I am going to test drive again, now a GT with that minimalist specs.

I am wondering who also went in my direction and if they wish they had gone with Premium and/or more equipments. Thanks in advance.
Great question. In my mind, I knew I wanted the GT to leave no room for regret on the powertrain side, as well as the performance package to leave no room for regret on the performance side.

At that point, I needed to figure out if I really wanted the premium package. At first glance, there was really nothing I wanted out of it except for the pony projection lights. See screenshot below.

HOWEVER, a coworker mentioned that the cooled seats are worth the cost of the premium package alone, so I gave my dealer a call to add the premium pack.

Unfortunately he wanted me to come in to redo all the paperwork, so I thought this was a sign that it was not meant to be, and I didn't want to risk losing my place in the build queue.

The reverse sensing system is not required, since a backup camera is standard on all Mustangs.

I invite you to look at that premium pack screenshot again. When you think about it, it's all fluff.

This is why I think all the guys that didn't get the GT and instead got an EB premium are nuts.

So really, they're nuts for having different priorities than you.

It really depends on what you want out of the car.

For me, at least, the difference in power between the GT and the EB is something I'd use maybe ten seconds a year, total. I'll literally go weeks without getting the engine above 2500 rpm (in the four months I've had the car, it's spent less than five seconds total above 4000 rpm), so the extra power is basically wasted. But I use the navigation every time I get in the car, and the heated seats and automatic climate control every time I got in the car all winter, and the enhanced audio every time I get in the car, and the ambient lighting every time I get in the car, and it opens the option to get the pro audio system and BLIS (which I thought I would hate but which I absolutely love now that I have it) and the corralled pony grille that I couldn't do without. Oh, and the toggle switch that lets me leave the steering in "comfort" mode... not sure if you have a different way of putting that in place in the base models, but it's absolutely glorious to be able to drive around with one finger on the steering wheel all the time.

It depends on what you're looking for out of your car. I drive mine to Costco to pick up groceries, and to work, and to the bar, and to take ladies out of an evening. My car will never see a track; will never see 0.80 g's of lateral acceleration; will see wide-open throttle maybe three times a year. So none of that stuff really matters. But I'll feel those leather seats every time I sit down in it.

A new Mustang GT...."poverty spec".

Sorry, but anything that costs even what a base GT/PP does doesn't shout poverty to me in any way.

I would have deleted anything not related to performance if I could have. I'm actually angry the car is going to have a reverse camera
The reverse camera is beast :D

It makes it so easy to back up now, once you gain "trust" in it that is.

Hence the reason Poverty Spec is in quotes.

Exactly. I've had all kinds of cars and plenty of them with V8's. Traded my last car which was an economy car for the EB with plenty of HP. I would of been fine with a V6 but unfortunately you can't get a V6 with the premium interior which i very much wanted. I've had the stripped down performance V8 cars in the past and this time i wanted more creature comforts with enough power to satisfy my very seldom push the peddle down rush of speed. Besides that if i got the same options on a GT my car payment would of been a lot higher. I have my payments at a reasonable to me cost.

both GREAT points. but in my mind, if I was shopping for a car for MPG, i'd get a Prius, and if I was looking for luxury, i'd get a Lexus RC.

at least that's how my mind works. when I purchase a product, I tend to lean towards the product's main focus and strengths. there really isn't anything that can compete with the GT's performance and price point.

for example, the last 2 times I've purchased a vehicle, I've always considered the prius since its main focus is MPG, and I drive about 95 miles per day. however, I'm a car enthusiast, so in my mind, i'd regret purchasing a prius.

i've already come from a luxury vehicle and drove bimmers from 1999-2011, and luxury doesn't really excite me anymore.

I only miss the sirius in my base gt pp, and hopefully will be adding that soon. I figured out to press and hold for sport mode, how do you get to track mode in the base gt?

I thought I would hate the backup camera but it's actually really handy to double check that I'm far enough in the garage without getting back out of the car. My garage is a bit tight thanks to cabinets and a workbench against the back wall.

Just toss it in reverse and have a peek to see that the bumper is over the threshold.

Sure, but just because one bought a premium eco over a base GT does not mean one did so because the eco gets better mileage. It is all about perceived bang for the buck - I think.

this is the reason i back into my spot at home now. i can actually tell if i'm going to hit the wall or not. although im getting good at guesstimating my distance from the nose, i'd rather not risk it.

also another really good point. "perceived bang for buck" varies among the mustang crowd.
