... just kidding about the poverty specs of course ;)

I m wondering who had decided to go minimalist.

I have other cars so this will just be a toy.

I am thinking of a base manual GT with GT performance package, recaro seat, and maybe just adding the reverse sensing system, depending how bad is the rear view. I drove the 2.3 a couple months back as the owner had not let people drive the GT. So, I am going to test drive again, now a GT with that minimalist specs.

I am wondering who also went in my direction and if they wish they had gone with Premium and/or more equipments. Thanks in advance.

I ordered a premium GT, with the 6 speed and the Recaros but left everything else I could off the list. No shaker system with the sub, no BLIS, no adaptive cruise control, etc.

I plan to keep this car for a long time and I wanted it to at least be nicer inside than my base model Jetta which was less than a 1/3 of the price of this car.

the recaros are a waste of money. the stock cloth seats are the same thing. ive sat In both seats and the recaros are not worth the 1400 dollar option.. put the 1400 some where else.. and quite honestly fools pay 1400 dollars for seats.. especially when the normal cloth seats are just as good.

I can spend 3 hours a day in my car if I commute in it. I'll always option my cars up for comfort as well as performance. If it were just about no-frills speed I don't know that I'd be in a Mustang.

I originally only opted for the GT Premium as I wanted the driving modes - mainly Snow/Wet. I'm confident in my driving ability, but anything to make my car more "drivable" in the winter was important to me. I keep telling people I won't have trouble with it in winter, so I figured I better get something that might keep it from getting stuck (so often)...lol.

After I bought the premium though, I'm enjoying some of the premium options, including my Redline interior (at another 500 dollar cost lol).

+1. My Recaros vs. my buddy's stock seats= no comparison. Recaros all day.
If they fit your body. They're extremely uncomfortable for me; I sat in them for about ten seconds and knew that I could never do that. As it is, the stock seats have too much bolstering for my tastes.

Granted the bolstering doesn't do much for you in stop and go traffic but you will appreciate it if you plan to do any autox or track day events.

Trust me, Jimmy is not going to be doing any of those things. They'd interfere with his hypermiling. :D

I think a few of you are being a bit dramatic here - the seats are a personal choice - I really wanted to like the Recaro seats, but they don't work with my personal anatomy. The standard seats have plenty of bolstering, and better support for me. I also felt I had slightly better visibility with them. I would pay a little extra for mechanical adjustment - even to have hand cranked windows...

Again, the bolstering will only help if they fit your body.

One of the worst driving experiences of my life was in a Lancer Evolution MR, which is supposed to be a fun and enjoyable car to drive. Except, the Recaros were evidently designed for somebody who was 5'6" and about 130 pounds, because I literally could not fit in the seat -- I ended up sitting on top of the bolsters, with the back bolsters pushing in to my kidneys and my body weight supported by the thigh bolsters piercing the bottoms of my thighs. I drove it for maybe three blocks before giving up and getting out of the car; it just wasn't possible.

The Recaros on the Mustang aren't that bad, but if all of your internal organs are squished together and your back doesn't actually touch the seat back and your bottom doesn't actually touch the seat bottom because the bolsters are too aggressive, it doesn't make for a fun driving experience.

Base GT,auto,.355. If I could have got less gadgets I would have. Less is lighter and fast. I'll never be going around in circles unless I'm lost.

I would have deleted anything not related to performance if I could have. I'm actually angry the car is going to have a reverse camera

the only thing I regret not getting was the recaro seats. I have a base GT with a 6 spd MT and I love it. I do not regret skipping on the bigger screen, brembos, or anything else.
I plan on stripping it down further and eventually making it into a track only car.
