Hello all, I've had some tapping noises coming from the front of my engine, at first we thought the guide went as we boroscoped it and looked like it was missing. We take the front cover off and it is there. The chain is loose enough to hit the guide and create the noise, the driver side is fine though. Is it possible the passenger chain stretched just enough to create the noise? I also thought that the tensioner would take up the extra slack to stop the chain slap?

Have you compared the free movement both chains?

Yep, while I had it off the passenger chain could move side to side and hit the guide but the driver chain could not.

Sounds like you have the bad actor in hand .

Could hold the chains together, spread them apart and see any stretch .

The tensioner is there to take up slack. On a cold motor, when hot they shrink .

It's not the secondaries. I replaced the tensioner and guide on the passenger side primary.

I would have done the same, good thinking :champagne:
