Car looks awesome. Best of both worlds with the CAI. And sounds a lot like snowblind [emoji16]

Car looks awesome John. The Big Worm graphix look killer. Did you install them yourself? Was thinking of getting some for my black S550.

Thanks! I was too chicken to install them. I had a guy that does mostly tint and vinyl wraps do them; he made it look easy. ;)

Interested in your transmission build. I have been mulling this over for a few months now whether to add it to my list. How do you like the feel of the 350 wheel? I'm waiting on the R version to come out.

Edit: any exhaust videos of your SW LT/FRPP CB combo?

I was having some issues with the trans; started out about a month or two ago with a whine that was very noticeable at lower rpm (exhaust would drown it out at higher rpm) and then later there was a pronounced metal on metal 'thunk' when letting the clutch out into first or reverse and also noticeable at low speed (think parking lots) when going from a coast to light throttle. Similar to what some hear from the rear diff, but this was more pronounced and most definitely from the within the bell housing.

It was a gamble to even have Ford look at with all my mods and after talking to the service manager I decided to just bite the bullet and crate it up and ship it to Ben Calimer in PA. He found some funky wear/notches on some of the gears, but nothing was broken. I'm not sure if I'm happy or not about that as the 'thunk' may well still be there...

So, I'm just doing a Level 1 build: That includes bronze shift pads and billet shift stop to replace the factory plastic pieces. Welded forks for strength and smoothing the sliders and hubs for smoother shifts as well as a "few other tricks" he does. Including shipping both ways, that's $1000. I would have liked to do the Level 2 that adds cryo treatment and rem polishing, but that ads three weeks of down time and another $900 to the price....

As for the GT350 wheel, it feels great. I'm sure it will feel even better after I install it. lol

I don't have any good vids of the exhaust - here's one someone made at the track:

That's actually rather discouraging that there were some issues identified with the stock setup. Hopefully the thunk is gone. I'm going to do something with my trans. But it sounds like more than I was thinking may be required. Thanks for the info!

Exhaust sounds great btw! I'm thinking if going kooks myself (our builds have to separate eventually). But it's great to hear the FRPP CB tone mates very well with headers.

His Level 2 build is supposed to be good up to 1000hp... I don't think I'm going to go FI on this car, so hopefully I'll be good for a while.

I'm surprised each time at at the track how many compliments I get on it. I still look/listen at other setups, but I'd never change it at this point.

Will you let me see what your shifter feels like when you get it back?

FI was an initial plan of mine but doing a robust NA 8k redline build is way more enticing. It will require some real work to get there rather than just slapping in some purchased sc/tt kit.

Before your trans build had you looked at any of the trans support brackets like blowfish for shift stability?

Yes Trey, you can feel my shifter. lmao

No, I really didn't have issues with the shifter, but then I had the opportunity recently to try the MGW and was super impressed by it. I had tried the Barton before and didn't like it at all and pretty much wrote off the idea of making any changes. Little did I know how different the MGW is from the Barton. That truly would have been one of my first mods had I tried it before.

I haven't had a chance to experience either of them. Any chance you can elaborate any on the improvements of the MGW over stock?

"Feel" is always a hard thing to describe... Smooth, no notchiness, more of just slotting (is that a word? lol) into gear, no play. See if someone around you has one; I'd imagine the feel is the same '11-'16.

I was talking with someone on another forum about catch cans and he suggested the Elite Engineering is a better setup than the UPR. Fast forward a few weeks and Elite provided one to do some comparison testing...

We installed in in conjunction with my UPR - it's inline on the output side of the UPR, basically it will catch whatever gets past the UPR. After a month or so I'll switch it up so the UPR is on the output side.

A few pics from the install...

My UPR Catch can on the left, Elite on the right

Mounted to back side of CAI box:

Hoses to Elite; mounted on backside of CAI

All buttoned up.
