I’m playing around with the idea of going built motor and cranking up the boost. I go back and forth between long block vs short block. What’s the stock motor worth roughly or what can I sell it for? It might be helpful as I am planning/playing fantasy in my head.

And onto built motors... I like the mmr 1000 long block but don’t know a ton of other options. Any other suggestions?

Who’s gonna tune your setup?
I would stick with Lund most likely. I have been happy with their tunes on my current set up and they have worked with me a lot on revisions and tweaks.

I’m trying to figure out how much all in I would be into the built motor. If I buy a long block for $9-10k, sell the stock long block (hopefully for $4-5k). Install what $1-2k to pull the old motor and install the new one. Couple hundred bucks on the tune. What other big things am I missing? Somewhere around $6k after selling the old motor.

Ask Lund which company they recommend
L&M or MMR:sunglasses:

I don’t doubt it but I can’t afford a $17k+ engine . MMR is more in my price range and seems to know what they are doing.

I have the MMR 1000 in my S197. Just finished putting 1000 break-in miles on it and getting it dyno tuned in 2 weeks. So far no issues but will report back after it's tuned.

They look nice but that’s about double the price of MMR
1) they are not double, and 2) even if they are slightly more expensive the MMRs are crap and you're going to be spending less in the long run going with a reputable company.

I was quoted about $5400 for a shortblock by L&M, while the MMR Coyote street mod 1000 is $5499 and doesn't even come with billet OPGs

why do you say MMR is crap? I’m not arguing since I’m pretty ignorant on this topic, genuinely interested. I understand that L&M is probably nicer but that doesn’t make the MMR crap by default.

just comparing website prices, MMR 1000 hp long block is $9,000, for an 800 hp long block from L&M it’s $17,500. On the surface it’s really hard to justify the higher price.

MMR has had many complaints if you do a search in other Mustang forums or groups. They are crap because of their worksmanship and customer service, not because it's cheaper.

For one, the L&M longblock has alot more parts than the MMR one. And secondly, if you are one of the many many customers who have had major issues, you would end up spending more money to fix the issues than if you had spent on another engine that worked fine.

+1 I would stay away from MMR engines. I have read countless complaints about their motors on many different sites and groups.

Companies I have read nothing but good things about are L&M, MPR, and RGR
