My stock went out about a month under 2 years on my 18, and dealership replaced under warranty. Found some corrosion on one of the cables and they cleaned it off. If you got 4.5 out of yours I'd say you got your money's worth and time to swap it lol.

That is just way too early my friend..you should have gotten nearly 2 more years out of it..I do recall in Nov of 2016(after the GT sit parked for 3 weeks) finding the battery completely dead in my '15..charged it up and all was fine..Now I'm kinda wondering if the same thing has happened because I recently haven't drove it in over 2 weeks..
Anyways got a new battery installed last night and all is good...so later went out to garage to see if original battery would take a charge and of course it acted like it would...will do a full test later and see if it's a candidate for a backup at the farm.

I had an Optima RedTop battery trunk-mounted in a 99GT (03 Cobra clone ~700HP) that I owned from 2004 - 2015 and that battery is still going to this day. I even allowed it to go dead early on in it's life and revived it using a Battery Tender. I always kept it on the Battery Tender anytime I was not driving it.

I wished they made an Optima for the S550.

I didn’t know a battery only lasts 4-5 years. The battery on my Evo lasted well over 10 years before it needed changing. I thought it that was normal. And I changed it only because one winter, start up wasn’t as quick as usual.

Many turbo cars are easy on the battery - well, in terms of cranking specs. Lower compression = less cranking needed. I ran an SRT-4 off a lawnmower battery (Poor man's lightweight battery). That lasted about 2 years each time before it gave up the ghost. Heat is the number one killer though, if you live in a hot climate, you tend to cook the batteries, even if they are a regional "West" or "South" battery.

I don't know what it is, but I've been hit up for a new battery by all 3 cars I own, over the last year. Replaced the Van's battery with a Bosch AGM from Pep Boys. Replaced the Mustang with a Duracell AGM from Sam's club, and replaced the Ram's with an Everstart Maxx (Non-AGM) from Wally world. Van got about 5 years on it's battery. Mustang about 4 and I have no idea on the Ram because I bought it used.

Also, in case people don't know, there are really only 3 main battery brands: East Penn, Exide and Johnson Controls. I just bought the Everstart Maxx, so I know that is made by Johnson Controls. I can't remember who made the Bosch and Duracell.

I got just over 4 years out of mine, died at 12k miles this month.

Replaced it with a Duracell from batteries plus. Wanted an interstate but Costco didn't stock them in my town, so had to get something in a pinch. 2 year warranty on the Duracell. Cost me $125

I love the irony in that. Seriously. I run Motorcraft filters in my Dodge Ram as well. I also ran AC Delco parts on my old Dodge Dakota. I had a GM/Onstar rear view mirror on my Dodge Neon when I sold it...I wanted one with a dimmer and a compass and the onstar one was the cheapest on ebay. Oh and the Taurus e-fan on a chevy S-10, and a taurus PCV valve grommet worked great as a AIT sensor grommet in my SRT-4.

Fun fact: Lamborghini started his car company because he saw that Ferrari was using some of his agriculture equipment parts to make their cars.

OP -

This is a loaded question. You’re going to get as many answers to a battery as you would if you asked about Oil :). A lot of factors determine into your battery life.... climate, usage, maintenance, type etc etc.

you had one of the best batteries around. Optima today isn’t what it was back in the early 2000s. Wish their quality kept up with their price.
