Out of curiosity, has anyone tried using an Infinity Basslink in their trunk? Here is a picture of mine in my base GT.

I have a post in the thread upgrade stock speakers where I used a Blaupunkt amplified sub. It's actually overkill for our stock radio, even with upgraded speakers.

Looking for something smaller

I want something that will fit back further in that recess, but I bet the one you have in that pic will have more bass.

I love my car in many ways, it's 7 days old tomorrow. And I am actually ok with the base radio
I was the same way at first, but now that my car is a month old it's lacking in bass and gets muddy at high volume. I can't wait to get my equipment installed from my last car.

Can you describe how it sounds? Does the back fit all the way against the side wall of trunk?Or is it too tall for that part and need to be away from the side at the back? On Amazon and Crutchfield it gets rave reviews, but it seems a fair number of people's die in a few months. I hope that is due to running it hard with sub volume way above half way. Was these reviews a concern for you?

So I've had a couple requests for more info on the basslink. When I get home from work, I can do a better write up. Thanks for the interest!

So this is the second car that this Basslink has gone in. I had it in my 350Z for 7 years, no issues at all. The connections are pretty straightforward; it has high and low level inputs. Since the base model head unit has no RCA plugs, I just tapped into the rear deck speakers. In hind sight, I might have gone with a line out converter, but I have no issues with it as it is now. It also comes with a remote gain control. I don't have it hooked up in this car.

If it's not clear, it can also be mounted on its side (the woofer facing up). As far as mounting in the Mustang, it fits pretty well in that little area. As you can see, it fits half way under the top portion of the liner. I also just screwed it down to the spare tire area cover, and it hasn't moved at all.

As far as sound goes, I'm entirely pleased with it. You wont get booming bass, but it adds just the right amount of bass to whatever you're listening to. Again, you aren't going to get the same amount of bass as a set of 10" JBL's, but this also takes up a ton less space, and there is no need to mount a separate amp.

I also have one in my old Chevy 1500 that I picked up used on eBay for about $100.00. It also works fine, and I've had no issues with it either.

Any questions, please feel free to ask!

Regarding tapping in to the rear speakers - aren't the lows filtered out in the rear? Or do they get the same signal as the door speakers?

I've heard that this is the case with the premium systems, but not sure about the base system.

I honestly couldn't tell you. I don't notice any highs coming from the woofer, however.

Here is a bezel on eBay from a Premium model: http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-2015-15-Ford-Mustang-Face-Plate-Radio-and-Climate-Control-W-Navigation-/321742203503?fits=Year%3A2015%7CModel%3AMustang&hash=item4ae9546a6f&vxp=mtr

I'm a little late to this thread and haven't read thru all of it...not sure if this could be used? I doubt the toggles would work...and you'd have a bunch of buttons that do nothing (heated seats). I'm talking about using this in a base model to add a 7" screen of your choosing.

Nice find. I wonder which 7" screens would work.

Just met with the Metra r&d rep and idatalink. Metra said that making a kit is on there list which I'm assuming means they just started doing r & d on it or haven't started yet. Idatalink (ads) they make the maestro interfaces, he said they are working on the kit but the double stack controls are a pain. No time line as of yet.....
And if your interested in pioneers nex line, android auto is not working on all 5.0 lollipop phones as well as gauges and vehicle info will not work withe the maestro set up.

Anyone else wondering what is behind the 350R radio delete panel? Logic is telling me that the entire board is still present but not populated with buttons/leds. I am hoping though that this is actually a new board design that eliminates the radio controls up top! If this is the case then I do believe we have found our radio bezel.

So I just got to thinking... Anyone know exactly how the tilt screen works on these 2 din nav radios? Anyone ever take one apart? If we could somehow detach this screen and (with some wiring extensions) mount the screen in front of the OEM circuit board then we would have our solution without needing an aftermarket bezel.
