at the advice of MikeD at Steeda, I went with Pro-Action adjustables. At their softest setting the ride is SPECTACULAR! When I go over railroad tracks or potholes, I have to go a bit slower than normal to prevent that harshness that I think you’re describing... otherwise it’s practically a luxury sports car until you start pushing it, then it’s a handling monster!

I just installed the Steeda progressive springs about 3 weeks ago and I like the look of it with no wheel gap. The ride is smooth on level roads but when it hits certain bumps it hits hard. My 96 has sportlines with koni dampeners and it doesn’t hit that hard on those bumps. Is this normal?
I had the Steeda progressive springs on my non PP car and had the same issue. It felt like my front end was gonna fall off. I just installed them on the pro action non adjustable shocks and struts and it is miles better. Better ride, handling, everything. Completely fixed the problem. I just installed a supercharger so now I need the front ride height spacers to bring the front end back up a little. Hope this helps.

Yeah appreciate your help. Going to either get the Steeda shocks and struts or the ford ones.

Either is a great choice, but we obviously may be a little biased recommending the Pro-Actions.

I installed the Koni orange rear shocks and it helped a ton. Didn’t do the fronts yet since I didn’t want to pull it all apart again and get another alignment. Been running great. I did get the G Trac front bar as well.

Just want to confirm, progressives plus non adjustable pro actions will provide better ride quality than stock PP suspension?

Was set on adjustables but I figure if the non adjustables are the same quality I might as well save a few dollars

1. yes (less bouncy)
2. the adjustables offer a slightly softer quality when run at the softest setting.

You will be very happy with the non-adjustable shocks & struts paired with the Pro-Actions.

Send me an email to [email protected] & we'll get you taken care of.

Best Regards,

I am having the same feeling of harshness when hitting bumps. I purchased the comfort suspension kit, Steeda Sport Springs - Progressive & Steeda Pro-Action (Non-Adjustable), with the billet rear mounts and camber plates, had them assembled by Steeda. The handling is much better and the bounciness of the previous Eibach/KONI STR.T is gone, but it feels like the front of the car is going to fall apart when going over smaller bumps. I didn't experience this on the Eibach/KNOI setup.

I took the air pressure down to 35psi from Steeda's recommendation, it helped some, but it's still a harsh feeling.

Is it a noise your hearing? If so, it could be loose sway bar end link. It is important to torque them to spec. Also, re-check the torque on the top strut nuts.

I think I know what you're talking about. The setup does very well for things that should be "impacts" like expansion joints and cracks, but hugs the road a little too much when going over uneven road surfaces. Without the extra travel and lower damp rate, the car no longer floats over these discrepancies. Oddly enough, I mind going over railroad tracks far less than going over badly paved surfaces where the road is wavy now.

Also, I've had the setup on for about 3 weeks now and it does soften up a little after a few hundred miles. Not as soft as nonPP, but much better.

Ride Quality

Also, remember to trim the bump stops one inch or run the Steeda bump stops with the short stack.
This is one of the most common issues regarding ride quality.

Got the new progressive and Stop the hop kit installed. Getting the factory rear springs out sucked.Online videos make it look easy but I think the rear subframe was binding on the factory exhaust. Most of the other installs have active exhaust or aftermarket so perhaps thats what makes it easier.

...lol

Car went quite a bit lower in the front than I was expecting I'm hoping it doesn't rub when I get my Forgestars back from powder coat and go 275/40/19 squared. :D

Based on searches it seems some are low and others aren't?

Should not rub at all.
