Yes that is true. I consider that just a loud exhaust. Everyone considers drone a differnt thing. Most people consider it the cetrain frequency that vibrates the whole car then no amount of sound deadener can stop. The "sound" at 2k can be stopped. The 2k sound is just a matter of preference. actual drone is bad for your car.

what would be your advice to stop or limit the sound around 2k ? I think someone else on this forum tried sound proofing the trunk and spare wheel well but he said that it didn't change anything

You cant stop a sound by just dropping some deadener over the top of it. The sound is being made through the drive tunnel and under the trunk, but can be heard everywhere inside and outside of the car. If it is truly just a loud sound then deadener will stop it, but it will take more than just spot sound mat. It will have to be most of the interior

Drone is like this reverberating noise in the car when you drive at a constant speed. I remember it being really bad in certain Foxbody's depending on exhaust. It will drive you crazy when it's happening.
