Well, I think after doing some more research (including that older 69 page SW thread on here) about the SW system, I am going to pass. Some are claiming power loss with this system, others that it gains nothing over stock, or perhaps 1-2 hp. Just some uncertainty about it that I am not comfortable with. So, its back to the drawing board. Got to do some more shopping and find another system that I like the sound of. I may end up just looking at an axle back system of some type.

You'll lose the great sound that the cat back system provides going just axle back unless you plan on doing a resonator delete as well...but at that point you might was well just go with a full cat back system. Trust me, if what you were looking for is that old school muscle car sound (which it seems like you are) then you won't be disappointed in this system. Don't let any of the other "numbers" thread sway you. As everyone has mentioned here the loss/gains from a cat back is so unsubstantial that it's not even worth thinking about. Exhaust is for sound, end of story.

not to mention we dynoed the system and picked up 2 hp

The difference in power you are seeing in that thread is so minor, + or -, that it's normal to see small variations like that doing back to back dyno runs even with completely stock exhaust. You could do 5 runs, all at the same temp, same day, same dyno, back to back to back to back to back and get readings of 360, 363, 362, 365, 361. I wouldn't sweat it at all. Again, go after the sound that suits your taste, don't try chasing numbers with a cat-back because you might upset yourself with no matter which system you get.

Hope that better explains this, let us know if you have any other questions.

Well guys, I settled on a magnaflow comp. catback. After listening to several clips of it, I think I like it even better than the SW. Thanks to Beefcake for giving me a great price on it.

my opinionated honest feedback here, but I think the SW h-pipe is one of the nicest sounding catbacks on the market right now. It not only has a nice burble and mean throatiness to it but the idle is so niiice. the way it burbles at idle is fantastic.

i've actually been looking for a new exhaust, mainly quad exhaust, but i can't find one that suits what i want. a few things about the SW catback that i wish were different though are the tips. i wish they were a little bigger and the sound near the high end of the rpm range kind of loses its aggressiveness a bit. but don't get me wrong it still sounds great.
