So the dealer resurfaced the front and rear rotors, and replaced the front pads. So far, no noise at all. I'll report back after a couple mornings

Without video/audio, it's really really hard for anyone to have an opinion on whether this is 'normal' or not.

I personally have had zero noise from my brakes. My rotors feel nice and straight, no vibrations, and no pulling to one side.

It's entirely possible the OP has warped rotors and the sound he's experiencing isn't the normal performance brake noise issue at all. I personally would defer to the service technician's diagnosis over anyone here that doesn't have any data to go by. Although if you don't like his, find another dealer to take it to to get a second opinion. Make sure to have him check the rotors as well as the pads themselves.

So what do you think? You're probably one of the members who's view I always respect.
Unfortunately, that's one of the areas I'm not too familiar. What I can say is that my car doesn't make that sound. If it were mine, I'd ask that they check the rotors to make sure they aren't warped. You already had them replace the pads, so it's not likely a pad issue. I know you also say it only happens when turning, so perhaps something is being pulled on when turning that isn't normally bound up.

I'd also encourage you to seat your brakes in by getting someplace you can get some higher speed stops done as described above. You don't want to go crazy building heat, but it's good to do a few stops from 60-20 or so, with a mid amount of pressure, so you build the heat evenly across the rotor. Do this a few times, then let them cool on their own (ie don't spray them with water), then do it again.

Short of that, I'm not sure what else would help. It seems more than just a simple squeal, but since I don't have much experience with performance brakes, perhaps it's similar to what others would expect. Hopefully they chime in with their experience.

Your's sounds just like mine. That's way too loud to be normal. Do you agree?
They are going to tell you it's normal. That's what two dealers told me. They contacted Ford Corp for a fix but they were told it's normal without sending someone to check it. Making decisions from a desk is tough stuff. I hope they can fix it so you can tell me how they did it. Don't allow them to just replace the brakes and TURN your rotors. Demand new ones because it's just premature wear on them. Good luck.

Yeah it's definitely not normal. Hopefully I will hear back from the dealer soon. It would be nice to hear from someone at Ford in regards to this issue as it seems to be somewhat common.

Haha- yeah the dealer just called me and said they were unable to replicate. They're going to keep overnight and keep trying

Dealer called me back and said they reached out to Ford who responded by saying some breaking noise is normal on these cars. The service advisor responded to ford and said my car sounds like a freight train with the brakes locked up and no way is this normal. Ford then responded and said they are aware of a brake noise issue on the mustang and their engineers are working on it but do not have a remedy as of yet. The service advisor told me when they were looking at my car that the backing plate seemed awfully close to the front Roters so they adjusted that and after that they did not hear the noise anymore. They advised me to pick up my car and see if the noise is gone, if not gone we will wait to see what fix ford comes up with. All in all I can't complain about the service and effort yet. Park cities gave me a complimentary rental car and kept me in the loop throughout the day. Anyways, sucks not having my car for tonight, I can't wait to pick it up tomorrow even if it's still noisy!

I took mine in for service today for a loud squeal that sounded like the wear indicator tabs on a disc brake pad contacting the rotor. They had it for about an hour and said that one of the disc brake shields/backing plates was making contact with the rotor. They readjusted it and so far, no more horrible noise.
