Squealing sound when braking?

I just picked up my car from them. They spoke to the Ford Engineer and requested new calipers but they were told that they weren't available but to instead remove the over abundance of grease on the caliper. Unfortunately I was able to replicate the noise when I picked up my car and they heard it. The grease removal did not correct my issue. They will contact Ford today. I was happy at least that they agreed with me, that it is not normal noise and they passed that info along to my case manager. I was also told that Ford is working on a fix (part replacements) that will be available within 4 to 6 weeks. I am on a list for that new upcoming fix. I thank Joe Green at McCoy-Mills Ford. I know he wasn't trying to bullshit me.

I saw your car there. It was behind mine when I picked it up last night. Joe told me they have 3 more coming in for brake noise. I told him sorry cause I was the one who pointed everyone in their direction. You were the only one who bought the car there.

Yup! I wish I knew which car was yours but they told me they cleaned all the grease off the pads and backing plates. They also lightly sanded the pads and chamfered the edges. No noise so far, but the real test will be when I drive it tomorrow morning because the noise always seemed to be worse when it was wet or cold outside. My SA also advised me of the official fix that will be coming out in 4-6 weeks if it was still a problem.

It does suck but at least I can still drive my car. I feel bad for the guys who haven't been able to drive their's because of transmission issues. I know eventually it'll be fixed by McCoy-Mills Ford.

I have an EB with the peformance pack, so probably the same brakes/calipers/rotors as you.

I put mine up in the air and spun the front passenger wheel (which was the wheel well which was squealing). While it was spinning you could hear that the pads were contacting the rotor, but it wasn't constant. It was only at certain times. This leads me to believe it's actually the rotor, moreso than the brakes/caliper. A warped rotor will cause intermittent contact as I heard. I put the other side up, spun the wheel, not a peep. No contact, no sound, nothing.

The only thing I don't understand is why I don't feel it through the steering wheel. A warped rotor is typically felt through the steering wheel.

I was told by McCoy-Mills that my rear rotors look like crap. Take it in, I just hope they don't try to just turn your rotors. Get them replaced!

I strongly recommend getting the rotors and pads replaced. Mine were replaced, both front and back and no brake noise since-three weeks.

And they changed your calipers.

My CSM (Mark) called me today and thanks to McCoy-Mills Ford, he now understands that my brake noise isn't normal and I will be getting new parts in 6 to 8 weeks (previously heard 4 to 6 weeks). Again, I don't have a problem waiting as long as they know my shit isn't normal and a fix is coming. Good luck to the rest of you. I'll update whenever I get a fix.

Yes they did. I requested it after two months of failed fixes just in case. But the EB PP brake issue seems to be related to the rotors and pads from everything I was told. I was supposedly one of the first to report the problem; Ford said no one else had reported it at the time per my service manager; bought my car on October 11 and had the problem start a week later. After two months Ford replaced the pads with ones that did not have the grease per my service manager. Fixed the EB PP brakes. Should apply to regular GT brakes. There was a stock issue and I got lucky getting the new front set of rotors.

Yeah, I don't think changing the pads or sanding/chambering the pads will fix the actual issue. I think it is either the rotors themselves with some sort of surfacing issue, or the clips that are used to hold the pads in place inside the caliper.

I was told that the fix requires them changing out the pads, rotors and calipers. When they replaced Navair133's components, they were instructed just to bolt it on and not to adjust/sand anything. I'm hopeful since it's worked on his car. Please make sure you speak to Joe Green since he's been in constant contact with Mark (Ford's Case Manager for SoCal).

Count me in as having the same frustrating problem with my GT Premium, and I am taking the same steps as some of you guys. Like Mike, I have a video as well - exact same piercing noise (absolutely NOT normal, I don't care what anyone says ). Seems to be coming from the front driver's side. Did my online research, too; found mustangsource and then someone kindly PM'd me to direct me here. It started a couple weeks after buying the car and it only worsened, quickly - in rain, shine, warm and cold. I took it in and they replaced the pads and turned the rotors. The problem returned almost immediately. I opened a case via a Ford rep from the other 'stang site, and hopefully at appt #2 my service mgr doesn't try to sell me on the exact same "fix" and send me on my way because I like this dealership, and the only other nearby dealership has a very slimy reputation. I sent this VERY informative thread to the mgr and hope he does the right thing. I would absolutely hate having to make an appt with that probably-now-inundated dealership way up in Fullerton. :(

My question regarding the fix that has worked thus far: were the pads, rotors, and calipers replaced with improved products? Or were they the parts already in stock? Also, I am confused, because a fix 'available in 6-8 weeks' is also mentioned... ? Or are you just talking about waiting for your parts to arrive? Someone please advise, thank you.
