Really?

I can't stand not being in sport mode. Sport should be Normal imo.

I feel in Normal the steering and throttle response are much too soft and non-responsive.
Normal is for those that want some gas savings...daily driver in bad traffic, etc.

Remember this Mustang is now a world car and it's got throttle mapping to give a variety of driving experiences. Normal is what you are going to find in a 'touring' type of car. 'sport' is obviously the 'pony' car experience.

It is great when traffic is relatively light and you have room to sprint but if you are just going from light to light or there is any traffic it gets old having the car bucking and trying to hold on to gears while you keep slowing down

I'm in an auto btw
This exactly.

When I'm stopping at red lights five times a mile and never getting above 20 mph the aggressive shift pattern and ultra-sensitive throttle are a bit much.
Gotcha. Makes sense from an auto tranny pov.

Normal gives better gas mileage? I'd be surprised if that is the case - use your right foot appropriately in any mode and I suspect you get pretty much the same mileage.

I'd be willing to bet, if there only was one mode and it was Sport, no one would be complaining about anything being too aggressive (auto tranny shit parameters aside).

But, luckily we are afforded options in this regard. Each to their own.

There's different throttle mapping with sport mode and shift points...if the shift points are higher/more aggressive then the car is going to burn more fuel. But obviously it's how you drive it.

Hell I like the comfort and the rain/snow setting too when I just want to cruise and relax. I'm not always in the mood to go all out and I like knowing I can make my car a little more docile with a couple switch flips.

Yes, true. I am talking using a manual. Different throttle mapping shouldn't make a difference. Just use your right foot appropriately and your mileage will be fine.

manual sport mode gives you more tire spin and more yaw allowance before kicking in.

whats exactly the difference between sport mode and track mode? Just the traction control?

If you want gas saving put it on wet/snow mode, i did a 400 mile long trip last week and on the way it was raining so i used the wet snow mode average mpg was 26.3 and on the way back used normal and averaged 25.5 mpg! Most of the road was flat with no wind on both days! But i have to say for a v8 these mpg's are awesome! Sport mode is like track mode with nannies are still on! Track mode turnes off the traction control but advancetrack requires manual input to be switched off!

I agree. Sometimes I don't mind a driving in a little more relaxed mode. Especially in stop and go traffic.

No, even gentle driving in Sport gives shifts at much higher rpms and it holds onto the intermediate gears even when you wouldn't in a stick shift. Definitely enough to make an mpg difference.

I feel the same. Even sounds a little obnoxious to me, like I am trying to race everyone. Kinda how I picture the occasional little Honda-type trying to be funny at a red light. Especially silly at 5:30am on a workday. :headbonk: And I waste enough gas in Normal mode just happily cruising for no reason, anyway. (I do use the Sport steering, however. :D )

Though I gotta tell ya...I love the rain, but I am kinda glad it doesn't do much of that here because the drag at takeoff using the Rain/Snow mode is almost unbearable!

The lawyers probably mandated the protection from us. I use all modes on the street.
