Three times? Out of curiosity, does it turn off AdvanceTrac like you would by holding the toggle switch for a few seconds?
I honestly do not know - I'll have to try it. Do you mean the separate toggle for the AdvanceTrac /Traction control? I've been using the far right toggle.

I only know that the visual difference between Sport and Track is the annoying 'Traction Control' off amber light on the dash.

I have the PP if that matters.

Just hold the toggle switch for about 5-8 secs will say Advance Trac is off.

Dont turn off Trac then to that, will not work. Just Click and hold

While I love the throttle response and shifting of Sport mode when taking off from a light, I have found it to be unusable in stop and go traffic, or even slowing down at a stop light. The car revs and lurches with excessive engine braking and generally makes it look like I don't know how to drive. Is this normal??? It seems like I should be able to enjoy the throttle response without the poor driveability. I have found I end up shifting back in to D once I've reached cruising speed after leaving a light. Anyone else experience something similar or is something wrong with the car?
I never use it. I use normal (rarely) or track mode (wish I could find the setting with FORScan to have that the default mode). I have found a light blip of the throttle downshifting makes it super smooth. :)

+1 on using the paddle shifters. I've started using them more in sport mode and its way more enjoyable.

This reminds me of a silly, but slightly poignant story.

A few years back, I had this hunny of a 6-cylinder/Automatic 1974 AMC Hornet hatchback. Baby blue 45,000 mile survivor. The car was perfect in virtually every way.

But it had this one issue where if you left it in Drive, it would shift perfectly - nice and crisp every time. However, if you ran it through the gears yourself, 1-2, 2-D, it would flare up (slip) on the 2-D shift.

Took it to my mechanic to see if he had any advice. His advice?

"Stop doing that." :D

So, I'd leave it in Drive. No problem.

Yeah, that's...well...normal...for this car anyway. If you're going to use the sport modes, you're better off up-shifting with the paddles and then let it automatically downshift. It's not that much work on the up-shifts, but you need to make sure you're not bouncing off the rev-limiter. Just before 7 each time and you're golden.

What this does is make the tranny downshift at the low-end RPM range of the gear so it's nice and smooth. No more herky-jerky. The only bad part of this method is that if you want to go from cruising at the bottom of 6th and slam your foot down, you need to quickly depress the down-shifter 3 times to hit 3rd first (if you hit it quickly 3 times quickly it'll drop directly down that number of gears instead of cycling down through each one).

That's pretty much how I drive it during the warmer months. It was a terrible pooch-screw when they made the original tune and obviously didn't test it enough. Because instead of it looking like you bought an automatic Mustang, you look like an idiot who just bought his first manual.

I agree with what others have said but have one thing to add...

Also, the paddles are the way to go in stop/go traffic. I can usually leave it in 2nd and stay off the brakes.
Yeah definitely. As much as I love the roar going up through the low gears, sitting at high RPMs in 1st for a while gets annoying. Paddles are the way to go unless you get a good tune.

Maybe it's an automatic compared to 6spd thing, but I've never experienced any of those problems and I am almost always in sport mode. Even before getting a tune, none of those problems. And for what it's worth, I test drove an auto GT before buying my 6spd and if I had an automatic, I would ALWAYS be using the paddle shifters! Not sure if having the performance pack would make a difference....
