Speeding Tickets: Who's getting them?

Rogue I have friends and family that are Leo once I saw officer I pulled to right lane did speed limit ,pulled over rolled windows down put hands in plain sight with car off .i respected and and accepted my summons with no problem . As far as waze it showed coast was clear until someone posted officer on the side with me pulled over lol.
I did call several lawyers in Ohio but since I don't have a cdl they were honest enought to say they couldn't really do anything.

I hope not to... I've taken the class the maximum amount for my lifetime so any tickets I get now skyrocket my insurance! That tends to keep my right foot under control a little bit better.

1. Know your area, and where cops typically are

2. Get a radar detector, V1 https://store.valentine1.com/Store/. It is 400, but it is the greatest 400 i have ever spent. I got 7 tickets in a 18 month span in my 2006 honda civic si. Since selling the car, i have not been pulled over in 18 months. The funny thing is i now drive a 16 gti, so i still drive spirited. (will be buying the shelby in a few months)

3. Go for the wake app.

AND DO NOT BUY A RADAR DETECTOR AT WALMART. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. THEY DONT WORK.

I think a better question would be: If you got a ticket, what color is your car?

I've had 4 speeding tickets in my life with my Mustangs. 3 of them were in a 7 month window with my RED Ecoboost I was using for work trips (anywhere from 10-20mph over highway or interstate speeds). 1 with my '15 Black GT doing 54mph on a country road just outside of town with 40mph limit, and it was a speed trap as he was sitting there and flipped the radar on as I came over a hill.

I think color of vehicle absolutely matters on getting pulled over or the radar gun turned on randomly at you.

is going to stand out more than a AG no stripes, and could result

I can understand the argument for color. But only 1 of those tickets was speeding. And it was white, lowered, with tint all around. But my point is buying a valentine will make you know where cops are at all times. That is if they have radar on, which is 98% of the where I'm from.

Dropped my wife off at her work after taking her to lunch today. A customer came in right afterward and told her that I needed to watch it as I was doing <X> in a <Y> speed limit and a cop had been watching me.

It was like a dash of cold water when she told me this tonight. Gonna have to be more careful.

I think you're right. Back in the mid-80's while stationed at Ramstein AB, GE I had an old competition orange BMW 525 (or whatever BMW called that color). The 6 months that I owned that car I could not turn around on base while driving that car without getting a ticket. Hadn't had an issue off base, or on base before I bought it. Sold that bad boy and bought a silver 320. No more tickets.

I've been driving gray Mustangs for years and years now, and I would almost swear that they have been invisible to LE. I think my RRM 350 is going to be a different matter though.

Just to clarify, my driving is the same whether it's been with my silver/white BMWs, black F150... doesn't matter. But that Race Red drew attention and cost me several hundreds in tickets, hence it lasted only 7 months as a work car for me. It's been 14 months since I got rid of it, no tickets since.

My brother-in-law is a HP, I passed him in the RR in his area on 4-lane highway one day traveling home (I was like maybe 5mph over) and thankfully he didn't be a smart-ass and pull me over. He did tell me he saw my car from 2 miles away though. I think I got rid of it 3 weeks later.

So how did he know how fast you were going? If he came behind you that means he was "pacing", it requires them to pace for at least 1000 ft. If he did and you didnt notice he was a cop that long, thats really user error

If he just saw you going fast and "thought" you were going fast, thats really again user error. You can walk out of that ticket easily.

I did get pulled over several times, but I always talk my way out of them. I was pulled over for "speeding" in 35 zone because cop thought my race mufflers were too loud and thought I was going fast. Not going to work. Its really simple, use the law to your advantage. Know their limits and how their procedures work.

- Cop: You were speeding
- Me: How fast was I going, did you have your radar on?
- Cop: No but I observed you speeding
- Me: You cannot judge how fast I was going unless you paced me from behind for a considerable amount of time. Standing on the side of the road and assuming because my car is loud I must be going fast doesnt qualify

Even if he writes you up, go to court and no judge will allow a ticket like that.

He can write you up for other offenses like "exhibition of speed" which are far worse but those require you to drive aggressively like doing burnouts or going sideways.

This is exactly how you talk yourself into a ticket. Acknowledging the blue lights and getting over immediately, having documents in hand, being respectful and apologetic, and accepting responsibility go a VERY long way.

This is exactly how you talk yourself into a ticket. Acknowledging the blue lights and getting over immediately, having documents in hand, being respectful and apologetic, and accepting responsibility go a VERY long way.

To contrast, I've gotten 3-4 tickets in my lifetime, and every time I did the same as you just said, I got a ticket 100% of the time. It got me nowhere before, but I'll still continue to do it in the future. Except I'll have a lawyer to take care of the ticket next time. Sometimes quotas are quotas.

Got ticketed for excessive noise while exiting an airport ramp. I got the ticket thrown out in court...the regulation was vague and the officer did not measure the decibels.
