Adam,

Was the customer whose plug gaps you reported the same one that you graphed in the first image below? If so, could you explain the graph because it doesn't make sense to me. If I'm reading the graph right, the order of the plugs from best firing to worst firing is | 3 | 4 | 1 | 2 |. But that doesn't match up with the gaps you reported, because then the order of the best firing gaps to the worst firing gaps would be |.030|.038|.028|.030|. Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks.
-- Bill

A customer I just I was tuning just last night pulled his plugs out and this is what he had |.028|.032|.030|.038|.

Edit 4/17/15: Here are some graphs of a customers car I am tuning before and after spark plugs at my recommended gap.

Before (Stock Plugs):

Thank you,
Adam

The logs I posted pictures of aren't from the car that I listed gaps for. I was just using the graphs for before and after plug change. The gaps I listed were just an example of showing you how far off they CAN be.

The pictures I didn't grab the gaps from him, I simply said "you need to upgrade your spark plugs and gap to .026-.028" and he did. Those are his before and after pulls.

What should the stock gap be?
FYI from the owners manual the stock gaps are listed below

2.3L : .027-.031 in (.70-.80mm)
3.7L : .049-.053 in (1.25-1.35mm)
5.0L : .049-.053 in (1.25-1.35mm)

Just swapped mine today.

They were mostly at .030-.031, with no real variance between them.

Went with one step colder Denso plugs at .028. Seems like the idle may be a bit smoother now, which is what I was hoping for. I've had this odd stumble at idle for a while now.

So LTR7IX-11 NGK 6510 are heat 7 for stock replacement? So if you want a step colder it would be LTR6IX-11 NGK 6509? Can anyone confirm this? I got the CEL twice now but after 3 long cold start up it goes away.

You have it backwards, 6 heat range is stock, 7 heat range is one step colder.

The Japanese plug makers have their numbering system arranged that the number increases as the heat range gets colder. Stock Denso is a ITV20, one step colder is an ITV22.

Ok thanks, I saw the other thread and realized my mistake. Anyways for those interested I found another thread. DIY on how to change the plugs, this should really be stickied.

You can purchase them all over, we have them listed so you can toss them in with another order, say an intake, downpipe, or exhaust. Free shipping over $200.00 we usually don't try to sell spark plugs on their own.
