Oh I can totally understand wanting the spare, especially if you have actually had blow outs. Maybe the experiences I've had are different because we get rain and snow up here and have to swap out tires more often. If I lived in CA I might replace my tires a lot less.
Had nothing to do with the age of the tire. The two most memorable blowouts were both on tires with less than 10,000 miles on them. On one of them I am pretty sure something hit the sidewall from the outside. A third was on Goodyear F1s that had (have?) a wonderful ability to develop bubbles in the sidewall that would then pop and be un-fixable.

My luck in this area is probably related to the fact that the roads in California are total garbage.

I had to used my (full) size spare in my old car several times. One was a legit blowout, something stupid I did. The others were slow leaks, and with that car, it didn't have the fancy TPMS so they went all the way flat. With TPMS, spare tire seems more optional. Even so, I suspect the low profile tires on the GT / PP are slightly more blowout prone when hitting a pot hole, or some other road defect.

I was rather partial to having a spare tire, enough to trump my desire for Brembos. Probably irrational. Now if Ford would expand the tire well slightly, we could have 19" spare. Have your cake and eat it too.

for those with the 12V tire pump, I had an aftermarket one of those in my old car, in addition to a full sized spare. It cooked in the hot sun, and within 2-3 years, it was junk. I went to use it, and the tubing cracked easy. There may be more heat resistant tire pumps available, but its something to consider

I've had to wait up to 3 hours on AAA in the past. And all they will be able to do is tow you to a shop for a tire repair. I've read here where a member got towed to his dealership and they didn't have a tire, and then they ordered the wrong one since the Gomer at the dealership didn't realize the PP has two different size tires on it.
I'd rather be able to change my own tire and move on.

Spare won't work if you have the PP. Won't clear the front caliper.

I once read that you could buy 19" spare on tirerack (or wherever) and it will fit in the spare tire well if left deflated. Of course you will want some way to secure that, because in an accident it can become moving object.

Exact reason I didn't order with the PP option.

I also negotiated to get the spare added when I bought my Mustang for many of the same reasons cited in this thread. Maybe the biggest reason for me is that I prefer to rotate my own tires. Much easier to do if I can have an extra tire during the rotation.

Mine came with the spare tire and jack, But i don't have the PP so the spare is an option. I want to be able to mount my spare if i have a flat and continue on my way, because you never know when a tow truck will show up.

So no spare on the PP. Is there any better options than fix-a-flat and AAA?

I thought I read somewhere that one of the models of Camaro in the past had an option/package with runflats.

On a road trip with my wife and son it sure would be nice to be able to swap out a wheel in a few minutes than go through the hassle of a patch or tow/replacement.

I know the rears on the PP are wider but can you, at least temporarily, swap a rear wheel to the front and put the spare on the back? I had to do this on my last car. It worked fine but the wheels weren't staggered.

Im not sure. Might have read either they won't fit or it destroys the gearing within 5 mikes. But ill lean toward not sure and will default to someone with more experience.

Nah that's probably not it. You don't get freeze/thaw cycles like we do. I've been to California and the roads were great compared to here.
