So I learned something today that I decided I should pass along.

If you have decided you want an Ecoboost, do not go and look at a GT PP. Especially if it's magnetic.:hail:

I say this from experience and it's some advice I wish I would have gotten beforehand.

I'm going back to test drive it Monday.

Must resist temptation. EBer's I could use some help.

Edit: 12/31 Got my VIN and cars already in transit. Expected delivery on January 13th. Coincidentally that's my Birthday. I wasn't expecting this for a while yet so yes I'm pleasantly surprised.

As an EB'r, my advice is: you're screwed.

My EB has enough power for me, but may not for you.

Lets not get hasty. I've not purchased anything yet. I'm just feeling the temptation really badly right now.

I was asking you EB owners for help, not to be written off.:shrug:

See it had the exact options I would order, was the color I want and happens to be a 5.0. Plus my 8 year old said, and I quote, "we should already own this car".

Oh and I must share my sons assessment of the interior.

And tell me you wouldn't be going for a test drive if the salesman said "Hey call me next week and we'll take it for a drive". If they had an EB I would be driving that instead/too.

In that case........

The EB is great car in it's own right -- you'll save over $6k over a similar GT, you'll have better weight distribution for better handling, you'll get better MPG, you get the same interior as the GT, and if you plan on modding it, the EB looks like it can make a lot of power.

You can't go wrong either way.

TBH, the only real reason to get an ecoboost over the GT is price. If you can comfortably afford the GT, definitely go for it. Unfortunately, the GT was too expensive for me so I went with the ecoboost, which will be more than enough power for me since I'm coming from an '04 hyundai tiburon GT that had very little power.

I drove a manual GT and LOVED it. Still gonna pass on it though for a few reasons, namely cost and mileage . I'm sure I can squeeze another 4-5mpgs avg out of the EB and that's a priority for me right now, as well as the 6-8k premium. EB has plenty of kick and I need the toys

In all honesty, owning a GT is not cheap. Not only is the pricing of the car itself significantly higher, but in the long run you'll spend a lot more on gas than you would on a EB...I'm averaging 12-13 MPG.

In my case, I'm fortune enough to be able to sustain the higher gas expenses without compromising on anything, so I opted for a GT. If you even have to think if you can afford to continue to fill up your car, then get a EB, you don't want to buy a GT and not be able to drive it wherever you desire because you can't afford the gas.

On the positive side of things, gas prices have been going down.

Not worried about mileage. My drive to work is 100% highway. (My house and work are on the same road about 25 miles apart) I manage 24mpg in my 07' GT on that route. I have gotten as high as 30 (yes with the 4.6) on a 4 day average hand calculated, but it was just too stressful to try and drive like that all the time. The EB would probably net me a solid 31+ mpg on the same road.
Not worried about lack of HP with the EB either. That's easily fixed.
A big part of my desire for the EB is how much I liked my 87' turbo coupe and Turbo BMW and Turbo Diesels. I like turbos.
Love the 5.0 as well. It's a rough life to have all these first world problems I know.

There are reasons for both choices.

Ultimately, depends on what you want... For me that was the EB, and I have 0 regrets. It was plenty of power/tq, and the price was right. I could probably afford the GT, but I did not want to spend 40K, and the additional on gas/insurance.

Telling you as a German (always worried about gas prices with around $8-9 per gallon in Germany), living in Canada, I am happy with my EP PP order I made. Here is a GT Premium $9,000 more. I did order a loaded EB and I am still $5,000 under a GT Premium standard with only floor mats upgraded for $300. He is marked with $44,700 at my dealer. With tax 5% in Alberta this GT comes to $46,900 and I pay $40,000 for my EB.

My EB has HP enough. The 2015 Mustang is so quite inside anyway. I am not sitting in my driveway and listen to the exhaust. You?

So I went and drove the GT PP car at my dealer tonight.
I love it. Most of what I loved should be there in the EB as well. I guess you could say I loved the car as a whole. It feels so well put together. Just solid overall. I didn't drive over any unusually rough pavement and can only say from the average roads I drove on the ride was excellent. Very pleased. Brakes are very responsive.

So now I know what direction to take.
Drive the EB hopefully next week. If I like it I will order the one I want then. If the V8 is just significantly better to me and they still have the car I test drove on the lot I'll get that one. If not I'll order one like it.

My reason to go with the GT goes as follows:

I had your exact car… 2007 GT 5spd 4.6L… and being a performance guy who loves to enjoy the mustangs for what they are (and push hard on the gas pedal a lot); I straight went crazy the day that ford released the 5.0 in the model year only 3 years after ours. They gave everyone else 120 more horsepower than us. I have been dreaming of that power difference all these years. Aint no way in hell I'm starting out with 300 again.

Just where I'm at… then again tho.. i mod these things to the limit and just love the muscle behind the car.
