Something leaking from the forward facing camera box

Does the gel/ oil pack only get replaced or does the windshield/ module get replaced?

The module gets replaced...the gel pack is part of the module.

There is a gel/oil pack in the module under the rear view mirror.
the module needs replaced.
I have only seen it happen only in one other car.

Well my 3/36 has expired. I may go back to the dealer and share this info and see if they will still take care of it. My car only has 7800 miles on it and I did take it in once before for it.

Ahah, I thought the module was bonded permanently to the windshield. At least it looks like its bonded.

The gel pack is part of the Windshield rain sensor. My unit started to leak after the weather got quite cold in late October the 2nd year I had the car. My car is garaged most of its life. Not exposed to much heat.

Mine is garaged most of time with interior temps that don’t vary much above say 35 C but it sometimes can experience higher internal temps when outside to 50 or even 60C?

Ford guys say first they have seen and nothing to worry about. It’s reside of sealant used to fix to inside of front window. I don’t know if it impacts anything else - lane assist ect?

Just noticed it on mine this morning. 13 months old and 12k miles. I’ll get my oil changed in a month or so and let service look at it.

We have this issue on BMWs too, the part looks almost identical to the mustang. BMW has a bulletin for the issue - there is nothing to fix according to them.

Same problem with my 2020 GT. Oil drips out of the cover. Been cleaning it off but was worried it was an indication of something more serious. Sounds like it's just residual. I keep it in the garage and it's got less than 12k miles on it, in case that helps anyone.

My 19GT leaks in the hot summer when I leave it sitting in AZ. Rain sensing wipers and everything works fine.
It's been doing it since it was new.
