Someone slashed my tire

I'm from Clinton and I can defiantly say PG is nowhere near safe. Almost as bad as some areas in DC.

There isn't a bad part of DC at all anymore. The former bad parts are now full of hipsters.

It very well could be damage but this is what the OP says…

I have no idea. I have not driven it for more than a week due to the weather. I use another car to go to work. When I came back, this was what I found.

If it is sitting for more than a week it isn't getting curb or pothole damage. Just sitting in the cold air the tires aren't going to over inflate and burst. Just my guess nothing more. For getting Ford to replace it going the damage route would be the best I agree. A knife pulled crookedly out of a stab could cause the tear at the bottom.

My advice to the OP is to keep a close eye on your vehicle and letting a vehicle sit outdoors in the same spot for days at a time is like a "low hanging fruit" to criminals. Best wishes on repairs and keep an eye out.

I bought this house in Maryland for the commute. My real home is in DC. I'm seriously considering to move out.

Two channel dash cam FTW. You capture the culprit on camera, if there is any way to identify them (license plate) or someone you know you could have them arrested / sued.

Good luck! It would be awesome if they replaced it, but I'm thinking they are going to tell you are SOL since it was not a tire defect if someone slashed it.

This car seems to attract haters. I've already had someone at a store parking lot (apparently intentionally) park their car about 6" away from my driver's side door so there was no way I could get in when they had plenty of room to park elsewhere. Had to get in through the passenger door and ease out of that spot very carefully (which sucked, because I had about two days' experience of driving manual at that point). I was going to wait to confront them when they came back to their car, but assumed they were probably crazy and decided it wasn't worth it.

I have had this happen to me multiple time. I honestly believe that typically this is due to an individual being in their "zombie state". So many people go about their days without any recognition of other people being on this planet... It is incredibly frustrating to say the least. However I would argue that it is most likely not done purposely...

Road Hazard warranty....doesn't have to be a "defective tire!!" Did you read my post earlier? Again...99.9% this is NOT a "knife job." It's a "tear type" issue from a road hazard incident of some kind...that even you won't remember. Happened to my Conti DWS high perf. all weather tire. Got new one....THEIR tire engineers studied my pics at Tire Rack...Conti reps were there too.....I argued...tire failure...they said..doubtful...but...a RH warranty would replace the tire.

That's the level, normally needed to resolve this kind of issue. Generally...there are NO tire experts at a dealership. Why....they don't warranty the tires....the tire manufacturer does. NOT Ford.

Well, I bought the car from Ford which included the tires. I'm sure they will contact the tire manufacturer to handle this kind of issue anyway.

My parents new Lincoln has tire issues. The dealership contacted Michelin and had one of their tire experts come onsite and inspected the tires. Michelin confirmed it was a defect in their tire and they got 4 new tires. I cannot remember the exact issue but it was a tire defect.

Well, my dealer called and said it looked like a clean cut like someone punctuated it.

To be fair, the initial puncture could have been the top and the jag at the very bottom could be from a tear afterwards (or when the thug was pulling the blade out). It isnt like the entire cut is all jagged.

If this is a truly defective tire, I may get it replaced under warranty. I already filed an insurance claim. I called Ford roadside assistance to get the car towed since I have no spare tire but they wouldn't tow for free if it was vandalism.

I would make sure you get the tire checked. With the temps around here recently and the cold weather, summer tires, it very well be a bad tire and those are summer tires. Are you parking the car outside?
