You are talking $20,000 at a minimum to reach GT350/Hellcat prices. I don't think it will cost that much.
With supporting mods it could be easy to reach $20k+. It would probably be around $30k.

You don't need most of that stuff to make 1k hp. Suspension, brakes, wheels/tires don't count IMO because you are going to buy them for any car.

The auto doesn't need to be upgraded at all, and the MT-82 will be fine as long as you aren't beating it to death. The clutch and half-shafts will need upgrading, I'll give you those. Why do you think the diff and driveshaft need to be upgraded? Have they actually been breaking on the 15's (I haven't looked)?

PS - Can't count labor and tuning, it's possible to do those yourself.

So you are saying you are building a dyno queen entirely on your own? A 1000rwhp car that will be used for anything other than dyno runs will need every supporting mod I mentioned unless you have the auto, I'll give you that.

1000rwhp is no joke and is going to take serious parts to handle. If you think you can do it with bargain basement parts you're mistaken. Well, only if you want to have a car that can actually be driven and tracked without breaking. Even the auto will need a converter.

Rather than continue to argue I'll just say this - I couldn't do it for 20k, but that doesn't mean it can't be done.

Also, the 20k number wasn't really the point of what I was trying to get at. Anytime you mod a car you could always have just bought something more expensive to start, but the modded car will likely be faster than the more expensive car with equal amounts of money spent.

1. $1000
2. $5000 + $1000 for cylinder head
3. Not needed
4. $1000
5. $600
6. Not needed
7. $1100
8. Not needed, I would actually prefer stock suspension up front and just some springs out back, so lets say $185
9. Factory brakes are fine, good pads $250
10. $1000

Total - $11,135.00

Labor - R&I of Engine $1300
Labor - Convert Shortblock into Longblock $800
Tuning - $160 per hour x 3-4 hours

Total - $2260.00

Grand Total - $13,395.00

This in no way is a set price, this is just throwing it off the top of my head based on what we usually charge for EVO/Subaru builds. The Mustang will be fairly close, +/- $2,000.

I would rather have a 1,000 rwhp ecoboost than a 1,000 rwhp GT. just my opinion.

1k hp in a 4cyl is tough, and not very street friendly and daily driveable. the record on evo X was somewhere around 900hp not to long ago

If you want big numbers like that I think its a hell of alot smarter to get a 5.0 and throw twins and a shot on it. I like the ecoboost because its more of a mod and have usable power type of platform. 500whp is totally usable anything above is more of a straight line/bragging rights type of thing.

1000 horses is awesome regardless of platform. Stupid money in either one but definitely something we all dream of driving and owning.
