I also think a big reason that Ford is limiting the PP to manuals is to further enhance the exclusivity of the 50th Anniversary Limited Edition cars. If you were able to get PP with auto, and you can get a 50th Appearance Package.... when what would the 50th LE cars offer that you otherwise can't get? Louvered quarter glass, a serial number, seat color/embossing, and some chrome trim around the windows? I really think it is strictly a move to keep the 50th LE more exclusive.

You can get a manual with PP and the 50th Appearance package.

The main reason you will not get the PP on a GT is bracket racing. With line lock and launch asist, you can get dialed in very consistently. With the LE, 98% of the owners with the automatic won't race them. The other 2% will do very well on race weekends.

It will probably be available for 2016MY. Ford probably did this so you have to buy the 50th aniv. package.

I like when people try to diminish the LE like it's an overpriced waste of money...

He left out exclusive wheels (both finish and size), exclusive body colors, and an exclusive finish on the aluminum dash. And the limited serial number should not be minimized.

But the bottom line is, the value placed on exclusivity varies from person to person. Some people don't care and simply want the most performance and tangible features they can get for their money. For them, the LE doesn't represent a very good value considering the real world price difference over a nearly identically optioned 'regular' GT.

Just give it 5 years, everyone will be clamoring over how great the styling was. If I had the money I'd buy one (I'm most afraid of the insurance costs to be honest)

Absolutely. I apologize if it sounded like I was stating you couldn't get PP + 50th Appearance + manual. I did not intend to convey that at all.

Agreed. But when it comes down to it, I still believe from a business & marketing standpoint PP + automatic would come close to stepping on the 50th LE's toes.

I am not trying to diminish the LE's status whatsoever. I like the 50th LE. I especially love those louvered windows. But the honest truth is, the fact that you cannot otherwise get that driveline/suspension combo is what gives it value. I do agree with what scottpe said, in that different people place more/less value on different things. But the fact that the 50th LE is the only way to get PP + auto ABSOLUTELY adds to it's value.

You've got a big occasion like the 50th Anniversary, it BETTER have more than things like chrome trim pieces, a serial number, slightly different wheels, unique paint colors, and a unique dash trim (in a car that looks like it's gonna have as many as four other dash trims available). I am not diminishing the 50th LE at all. I greatly appreciate the fact that it has a somewhat unique drivetrain; I wish it was more unique and offered a little more power.

With what Ford has done here, their 50th LE pleases both types of buyers... those who place value on appearance/serial numbers, and those who place value on unique mechanics. I applaud this marketing strategy.

JAs soon as the car is out to the public, you will see plenty of black Performance Pack wheels put up on the used market because there are a number of PP buyers that aren't so keen on the black wheels or the wheel style/size/etc.
True that. Poll says about 38% of folks do NOT like the black PP wheels. Me included. So they'll be available as soon as folks can put together the scratch for replacements.

I agree. Everyone including Porsche and Ferrari are doing automatic performance cars. This is a marketing move. Keep the demand up with something new every year. Probably have non-black PP wheels in a year or two as well.

It's funny how Ford just keeps making last year's model look slow compared to this year's. All the guys that bought 2010s got left behind the Coyote and barely ahead of the 3.7L. Then they up the HP, add bigger brakes, more gadgets, etc. until those "poor" guys that paid mega bank to get Boss 302s are barely going to be able to keep up with stock GTs, be left behind by GTs with the PP and lapped incessantly by the new GT350.

I just think back at how fast my '67 390GTA seemed back in the 80s doing high 13s and getting 15mpg, and now stock Coyote GTs are doing mid-12s and getting over 20mpg. High Tech. does not suck!

I might choose the PP instead of paddle shifters... i don't want to pay more for something that should be stock... and i'll hate my self if i have a mustang with lower performance for almost the same price just because i wanted paddle shifters... Ford made a !"#$%! bad move to a lot of their customers.

FLAMETHROWER!!!!! Just kidding. It would be cool to know your interest in the Mustang over your Camaro?

Also teach that woman how to drive or tell her tooooo bad. Haha. Mine just gives me a grumpy face while I row the gears.
