Hi all,

I have a 2017 mustange 5L manual.
The passenger side mirror (left in australia) is not able to be adjusted when playing with the controller, instead it makes a knocking sound as if its trying to move but is stuck!
I suspect may have done something when I was washing the car, any suggestions?

Thank you

It was a common glitch in the earlier years of the S-550's. Mine did it when ever I hit the memory button for the seats and mirrors. I would hit the memory button again while it was happening and it would clear the electronic brain fart that was going on and the mirrors would adjust like they should, until it happened again, which was about once a month.

EDIT, this happened on my 17 GT vert, not the 23 mach 1. So far the mach 1 has been flawless.

haha thanks for that., only thing is mine doesnt have memory button. I think you are referring to the number 1, 2 etc. Mine only has the seat movement buttons and mirror buttons but no save buttons.

My 17 did the same thing when using memory...would just click. Found out there was a TSB. Dealership did a software update and it resolved the issue.
They tried charing me $90 for the fix afterwards saying TSBs are not covered outside of warranty. I made a stink of it and they waived the fee.

sounds like the same as i had on my 17 GT also RHD - the mirror will have moved off the adjuster legs / fixing points so if you very gently wobble it back into the housing you will feel it 'slot' into place and you can then adjust with the armrest buttons

Thanks guys, Raptor when you say gently wobble back into the housing as in just push it in? its sticking out slightly more than the other side mirror ever does. Just press it in or some other type of movement?

i can't remember if i put my fingers at the kinda half way out from the middle of the glass or spaced near the centre but aye just gently pressed the glass into the mirror housing. Bit of gentle rocking action on the glass might be needed but you will feel it click into the right place.

My passenger side sticks out further as well, i think it's a symptom of the LHD / RHD and just how i set my mirrors up.

I should have probably mentioned, it does move abit inward and outward but it wont move passed a certain amount and only starts knocking then.

yeah thats normal for when it hits the limit of adjustment. I read somewhere the passenger mirror is not optimised for RHD driving position so it's adjustment doesn't seem to 'fit' but most folks get by fine so i think it's combo of seat position and how you like your mirrors set up. Got any pics of it sitting where you think it should adjust further ?
