Hood Spears

I posted this earlier in the "What did you do to Mustang today" thread, but thought I'd also post it here.

I installed Big Worm's hood spear stripes last night. Pretty easy to do. Hint - water is your friend.

I think they give Ruby a little shazam, and the color is a close match to the Velgens and emblems.

Here's a few pics. The first one is a before shot that I took Saturday. I took the last two this morning with the iPad. They're not the best pics, but you get the idea.

Ok. Now it is finished.
Pulled the striping over the front and rear bumpers and as an testcase I've striped the wheels too :)

Just put these on myself last week. Big Worm dual color narrow in gloss black with gloss white pinstripe.
Nice! They're the ones I've been looking at. Were they tough to install? And did you have to strip the wax off the stripe area before you applied them?

Has anyone done this color combo yet? DIB with matte black stripes/green pin stripes?

(I can't decide between matte black or gloss black. Opinions?)

Thanks! They weren't hard at all. Just take your time and make sure you get everything lined up correctly. It took me about 6 hours with never having done full length stripes before. Yes you need to strip the wax off first. Big Worm includes instructions on exactly what to do to prep the car with their kits. I used some alcohol to make sure all the wax was off of the areas I was applying the stripes. I used just water to manipulate the vinyl, the felt squeegee, and a hairdryer to mold the sharper edges.

I haven't seen that color combo anywhere, but that looks pretty sharp. That's my car in the pic, and the lime green looks better than I would have expected. Don't worry, I won't steal your idea - I really dig my white pinstripes.

FWIW, I don't care for the black stripes on the DIB. It reads too dark and makes the stripe difficult to see. The stripes on my car are matte charcoal and they look amazing in person. From some angles and in some lighting they have the appearance of a matte black. In full sun, you definitely see the grey and silver tones in it. If you were local, I'd be happy to let you see them in person. I've posted quite a few pictures of mine in various lighting and at different angles. Just search for my posts and you'll find them.

Good luck whichever way you decide.
