I read that the FL-820-S has the same seal diameter and 22mmx1.5 thread as the FL-500-S, but has a larger case diameter and is slightly shorter. I also saw that FRPP lists the M-6731-FL820 for the 5.0l coyotes.

I have a sandwich adapter for oil temp. and press. and hate having to lift the engine on the drivers side to change the oil filter. It clears once it's screwed on, but it's a PITA to change. If I could use the Amsoil version of the 820 (EA011) next time, that would be great.

Anyone try this?

You can run the 820 on the car, only question is the performance of the bypass vs the FL 500. I run the Ford Racing 820 HP on my 2011 Coyote and it works perfectly with no differences in oil pressure or odd noises in the valvetrain as compared to the smaller/weaker FL 500. With the 6th gen cars I've read that using non spec filters can cause flow issues and tick or worse rod knock. I plan on contacting Ford Performance to ask the question and also about running 5w50 oils.

I just bought my first filter and some oil. I went with the 500S, I can't believe how small the filter is. It's smaller than any of the filters on the 6 other vehicles I've ever owned. Just was kind of surprised and unsure it was the right one.

Hi there.,.,. please please please let us know what FP says about running the 820 filter. I tried one off the shelf and liked the way it fit, so ended up purchasing a case off Ebay. If there might be any long term damage, I'd like to know. Have not experienced anything so far and have been daily driving on them for about a couple of months.

Thanks, Steve
