Good morning from Texas everyone, and my apologies for the long read.

A brief list of what is on the car(trans/driveline wise):
MGW XSpec Shifter W/Standard Handle, Steeda braided clutch line, Steeda Trans bushing insert, stock clutch. (I do plan on adding the Steeda master cylinder hose replacement and BG II trans fluid in the next coming weeks)

So about 3 weeks ago, I had a shop install my XSPEC MGW shifter and Steeda Braided clutch line. Now, first long drive home(about an hour and a half) It would lock me out of 1st, it has gotten better over time but still occasionally does lock me out when from a dead stop. NOW the reason why i'm thinking it is a driveline alignment or driveshaft issue, is when it does go into gear, it does the clunk. Normal into 1st clunk and then its perfectly fine and shifts through the gears smoothly. I do however have to sometimes shift into 3rd then back to second if locked out of 2nd.

It does still lock me out at high RPMs from 1st to 2nd, but after that, perfect rowing through the gears. I don't believe it's my lockout pin, or I may have to have another shop adjust it. Attempted it the other weekend, but due to shitty tools, wrench kept slipping.

Now this coming weekend, I plan on removing my Steeda Trans bushing and while under there checking the alignment of the trans crossmember. May attempt at the Steeda Master Cylinder hose replacement

Oh great mechanical wizards of the 6G forum, bestow upon me your knowledge.

Let me know how it goes. Wondering if that line is necessary in the end.

I just completed my second MGW install. First one on a early 19 GT PP1 and this one for a Roush RS3. Based on what you are seeing, believe you need to adjust the lock-out. From experience, when not quite set, the trans will shift fine and then randomly lock out or present a hard shift for 1st and 2nd gear. Pull the MGW Install video and review instructions. Takes at most five minutes to adjust per the video

Good luck and hope this helps

Thank you, I plan on attempting it this weekend. Best way to break the nut loose?

And any advice on unscrewing/breaking loose the shift knob?
Twist it until you think your going to break it, then twist it some more ...

I almost gave up for fear of damaging something as the car was brand new and I didn't want to be going back to the dealer to admit I had broken it in the first week :cwl: Came free on the second attempt after getting a little mad with it :like:

WD :like:

Edit - I based the above on removing the standard shift knob - Thanks to @Rapid Red for pointing that out :like:

Don't think he's talking about the OME.....

Looks like there is an allen or set screw in the collar below the ball

Okay, so now I know. Cause I've got the Xspec standard with the cylindrical gripper. That explains why it wouldn't budge when I tried a few weeks ago. Now the next part is breaking the pin adjustment locking nut loose.

What made you do all those trans/shift mods in the first place?

Cause I decided to build my car in reverse. Suspension to make sure power goes to the ground, then building up the trans and driveline to prep for power down the road.

Mostly for a backroads/hill/canyon carver and roadtrip car. Occasional trips to Mexico.

So, nothing was wrong, but you threw a bunch of stuff at it, and now it doesn't work?

Well it's just that shifter adjustment then all should be good. Also how are things in Virginia by the way? was stationed there 2012 to 2016.
