I am trying to replace the shift know on my 2020 GT350. The OEM knob is extremely hard to loosen. It has taken me days to turn it one full turn and it it is still very snug. I think it maybe cross threaded. Anyone else had this issue?

Are you using a strap wrench on it? I replaced mine this weekend and it was a pita.

Yes
I worked it back and forth until it actually broke the shaft! Unfortunately a 5 minute project turned into a little longer than that. :)

For whatever reason Ford used red loctite on them. Completely unnecassary.
I agree, it doesnā€™t make sense? Others must have had less loc-tite because their knobs have come off easily . Not surprisingly I drew the short straw :)

My brother and I took turns and got mine off my red 350 by hand, and a whole lot cussing. And then I didnā€™t like the raceseng knob and put the stock back on.

I used 10" channel lock and a rag to remove the factory knob on my GT/CS. It also had red locktite but came off pretty easy without marring the knob.

This^^ best way to do it. Otherwise a lot of cussing and sore hands.

I found that using a heat gun on the knob made it massively easier to remove.
Which probably isnā€™t happening with most of these removals.
Cannot imagine doing it with these low temperatures up north.

I found that using a heat gun on the knob made it massively easier to remove.
Or even just a blow dryer.
Heat up the base of the shifter knob, turn a 1/4 thread, warm it up some more, another 1/4 thread and it will get easy from there...

Work slowly, use heat and your bare hands and you wont destroy your nice factory shift knob
