There is little to no base from the subwoofer mounted in the trunk (I have a convertible). Has anyone just changed out the subwoofer? I found a Rockford Fosgate P3SD2-8 300 Watt 8" Dual 2 Ohm shallow mount truck subwoofer that I think will fit.
I just don't know if it will be any better or if it needs a bigger amp to push it also.
There is a thread with pics of what it looks like taken apart on SVT but it will not let me link it here.

I hope your car isn't experiencing some sort of technical issue because I listen to a lot of electronic bass-heavy music in my GT Premium and I can definitely hear that subwoofer. Hell, I can see the subwoofer when it sends delicious bass into the cabin to shake my mirrors.

I think you should mess with your audio settings man, because the bass is there. The subwoofer is impressive for such a tiny unit. Have you tried adjusting your Fader & EQ?

I have the bass turned all the way up, I have it faded towards the back. I can turn it up really loud with it mostly in the back and get some base but by that time it is way too loud to listen to.

Take your music (like your CD or flash drive) to a dealer and find another vert with shaker pro and see if it sounds the same or not.

I wish it was that easy, the closest dealership with any selection is 75 miles away. My local dealership had one ecoboost and they said that was the only one that they will be getting :(

Although most people that have commented about the Shaker Pro think that it could be better, they really haven't complained about the lack of base like you describe. If I were you I would be planning a 75 mile trip. That would bug me too much not to.

Are you using an iPhone over bluetooth?

Try this:

Recenter the audio, set bass to full, Med and Treb to +3.

(you can also try and set the audio setting to "driver" to test)

Now on your iPhone go into settings --> Music --> EQ and select Bass Booster (that's what I use and it rumbles away happily.) Of course there are other options there that you can tinker with and see if that improves things. Good luck!

Sounds way better with the top down, or with the doors or trunk open, but worse with everything closed?
It's a Rockford Fosgate P3SD2-8 with the stock amp.

Aside from the head unit, I ripped it all out and started from scratch... Bass, highs, mids, I felt the whole thing sounded terrible. Running a JL10w6v3 sub in the trunk and Focal components up front and and coaxial in the rear deck, all powered by a Kenwood 900x5.

I would just like to hear a little base with the top down while crusing, but I might have to start from scratch also.

How much did the new system run you?

A lot. Hardware alone was around $1500 iirc. Labor was a fixed fee for me, but it took them about 12-14 man hours to do it all including some retuning and such.

So do you have the 400a package ? I'm thinking about skipping the shaker pro and going aftermarket like you did.

Thanks

I have the shaker pro and I have 0 complaints. If you plan on upgrading your system anyway, what's the point in spending the extra money on the shaker system to begin with? Just my $.02.

I started with the Shaker Pro system before anyone knew what it would be like; I anticipated the dinky sub needing an upgrade but expected rest would be fine. For my taste, I was wrong and did a full upgrade.

If I were starting all over again today, I'd probably wait and go with whatever the low end of the Sync3 MyTouch setup is on the '16 and then upgrade that.
