Occasionally, the volume on my Shaker Pro audio system in my 2018 Gt, will go to the max setting when you touch the volume knob. It will get your attention when it happens for sure. You can turn it down and all is fine but every so often this will happen. Could this be static discharge causing this? Anyone else had this trouble?

Lately some times when I turn down the volume dial to 6 it's jumps to 18....I put it down to electrostatic buts it's a new one after three years so I just use the steering wheel control.

Exactly what mine does if you don't turn it real slow. I try to only use the steering wheel volume control. I assumed it was because mine came off a wrecked car and something hit the volume knob. It was pushed in and I had to free it.

Mine's starting to mess up too on occasion and jump up or down a few notches (unless I turn it very slowly), seems this is going to be a common issue going forward especially if you use it often.

Same issue here on my 2017 GT. With the notable exception that i have a fairly powerful system with all aftermarket speakers and roughly 300 watts total going to each front door. "Attention grabbing" is one word to describe when it happens. More like "need a change of underwear" normally. :(.

I use the Sync3 as an audio source and nothing more. If I turn the volume knob slowly, it does not happen. I try to use the steering wheel buttons when possible, but I'm an old school guy and reaching for the volume knob is a subconscious action for me.

I've never taken the radio bezel apart in my car. But from what I remember from other posts, the volume and tuning dials (encoders) are part of a sub-assembly/unit. Similar to all the groups of controls on the bezel. E.G. Radio controls, AC controls, etc.

I would assume that sub-assembly is available from Ford. I haven't gotten pissed off enough to check yet. It is unlikely just that dial encoder is available to purchase. Even if you found that exact part, you would need crazy SMD-level soldering skills to remove/replace just that encoder.

Side note: Back in 2018 I used Forscan to remove the bass roll off in the Sync3 HU, fabricated some harnesses and essentially got a .8 volt clean preamp signal. I was worried that voltage would be too low, but I was wrong. It's plenty, assuming you have the right gear to amplify that signal. Feeding that signal into a decent DSP gave me the basis for a pretty decent sound system.

By today's standards, the Sync3 HU is pretty basic. It has a slow interface, tends to reset the audio source (but thankfully not the fader/balance/tone control settings) without warning after a key off/key on cycle. But IMO it's still the best way to have a totally stealth sound system. Plain Jane OEM head unit draws no attention.

Thanks thats what I was thinking. Compared to GMs interface Sync3 is a joke. Mine is so temperamental almost feels like 1960s FIAT haha.

At some point a Dynavin will be installed unless a Sync4 can retrofit plug and play....
