Car was stored for 5 months with the battery removed. When battery was replaced the car had retained all settings (radio, dash, etc). How?

What's even more impressive to me is that all emissions monitor data is now retained with a battery disconnection. Though I haven't tested it, that should mean that the DIY method of clearing a check engine light by disconnecting the battery should no longer work.

Given the technological advances in flash memory, it's not that crazy. A 1TB NVMe drive is the size of a quarter, and Ford figured out a way to fit that in the PCM module.

Not necessarily, it depends on where that data is stored. If it's volatile memory, like any other car before it, then it will still work to clear that data with a battery disconnect.

Doesn’t happen with Gen 1 or 2’s. That’s for sure.

Technology is a wonderful thing, until it doesn't work.
