Hey.

I have a GT 500 2016 with manual transmission. For the past few days i have noticed in my dash that the inlet air temperature fluctuates between 6.8F ( -15 C ) and the normal ambient temperature 109F ( 42 C ). The problem is that some times it does act normally and sometimes it fluctuates like crazy and does not stay on a specific degree!! Is the IAT sensor went bad???

Also I have noticed when I start the car and the degree of the inlet air temp 6.8F or so (which is wrong) the AC blows warm air instead of blowing cold air, so it does come to my mind that the Ambient Air Temperature sensor is also bad . Moreover, even when the problem accrue and even when I drive my way, the inlet air temp degree and the engine oil temp goes to ( -- ), no degree at all !!!

Could it be both sensors bad or one sensor does affect the other one. I hope someone has the answer. The only code that I get is the P0113 for the IAT sensor.

Before replacing the sensor I'll go and check for it's resistance, it it's broken you will see it fluctuate.
Otherwise, check the harness. Shouldn't be a ground issue because IAT is mounted on plastic and should come with it's own ground, separate from engine ground.

I'll begin by replacing that then see if this fixes all the rest. It's probable the ECU loads some failsafe strategy when detects the IAT is implausible that just ignores much of the sensors inputs.

Edit: I don't know on the GT500 but on the regular GT the oil temp is derived from CHT. Missing the IAT I'm guessing the algorithm that calculates oil temp is missing a data point.

Thank you. Exactly, I'll be doing the resistance check and see where is the issue. BTW i forgot to mention that i have some Hard Cold Start Condition but not always.

Maybe get someone to watch the values on the dash while you poke/pull the connector and associated wiring. The IAT sensor is a thermistor and thermistors are pretty tough. Could also be a cold solder joint.

Do a battery pull first.
im guessing it’s only the ambient temp sensor playing up. It won’t be related to the IAT.
If you remove the plug for ambient temp sensor it will read -45 degrees and slowly calibrate itself. Air con won’t work until you get to +Celsius.

iat I think is directly connected to the Maf and not seperate.

Whats make think that the IAT sensor is bad also is because i am getting a check engine light with P0113 code, hard cold start sometimes!! so maybe both sensors . Thanks anyway

Ah ok
Then yeh it’s your IAT.
Try a bit of Maf cleaner first in case it’s dirty
