This makes me want to get my PP1 wheels powder coated. They are black on a Deep Impact Blue 2016 GT, lowered with spacers like these. I am not a fan of black wheels. (I'm 51) they can make the wheel look small, and highlight the greys and browns in the tire. They can also highlight what's behind the wheel which can look pretty ratty. Sometimes I think the nickel finish on the early PP1 wheel can be a bit too bright in the sun with the complexity of the spokes. I think a slightly toned down silver is the way to go with these early PP1 wheels.
I agree. I recently put wheels on my M5 that are reminiscent of the PP wheels I had on that car, except a little darker. I can't wait until the black wheel fad is over.

Iā€™m 50 and this is my first pony. Coming from 30 years of lifted trucks. Love my black wheels against the Carbonized gray paint.

I ordered the Black Accent package to go with the carbonized grey. The black offsets the gray perfectly.

I think with all the shades of gray/silver, you need black wheels for contrast. Silver or tarnished wheels on a silver or gray car just get all jumbled up. That's why I replaced the dark tarnish stock wheels with black. I felt the same at 24 yrs old as I do at 54.

I have them.

I would prefer silver wheels, but the black is much easier to touch-up scratches and chips. Any glossy black touch-up paint will work.
Yup, you beat me to it... Number one reason to go this route. Been there, done that on my C7 Vette.

It's not a personalized plate. It's a specialty plate. That's just a random series of characters that I did not choose. You can get a personalized specialty plate, but you have to pay $35 for the specialty plate and another $35 for the personalization.

Here are a couple photos of my powdercoated pp1 wheels. I was shooting for something that looked like it could be a stock color, but not silver, and not graphite. Something in between. It looks a hair darker in person.

This is Prismatic Powders' "Galaxy Silver" with a clear gloss topcoat.

On the 15-17's the optional PP1 wheel was a factory silver PP1 wheel. They are kinda rare but they are out there.

Well, it was time to rotate the tires, so I took the time to wash, compound, and Mirror Glaze wax the back of the GT/CS wheels. NOW they look awesome!

Nice. When you take your wheels off again I would sugest applying a thin layer of extreme pressure grease to the back matting surface, This will keep your wheel from being hard to remove and stop the rust buildup between your Wheel and the Hub mounting surface. Good Luck

Next time you take your wheels off, I would recommend applying a thin film of high pressure grease to the back side matting surface. This to prevent stuck wheels when removing and the rust which is created on the back side between the hub and wheel.

60 and I like black wheels. Wild colors are cool too, in the right circumstance. My Eruption Green Mach1 will have Bronze HP wheels right after I take delivery. Second set of wheels is stacked up in my den waiting for her to be built, before hauling them to get powder coated.
I hate chrome...period. Polished aluminum is nice, but I don't like chrome on anything.
