See i'm lucky, my garage sensors won't let the door closed unless it has enough room for the door to go down completely. I just inch back clicking the close button until it finally starts going down, which means I have enough room.

Whenever I park in the garage I put the car in reverse to check if it's good or not. Works pretty nicely actually

Spun my baby and tapped a curb... 1 bumper 2 wheel hubs 4 recon wheels and an alignment and she is all good!

In regards to the garage - I have sensors, but they are a few inches off the ground and only sense a parallel line from end to end. In other words, if I wanted to I can shut the garage door and jump over the sensors and the door still closes. So the rear bumper can hang over and get bruised by a closing door. I doubt that would ever happen though, I have a fixed point at the back of the garage that is relative to my front end of the car. Once I reach that point, I know I am free and clear of the door and still have 3 inches before I run into anything on the other end. Plus, I don't back into the garage.

1) I do the same thing with parking. I backed into a corner spot with my 2013 GT where I couldn't possibly get a ding. Using my backup camera to get in, I ran the corner of the bumper into a brick column. Gouged my bumper bad, I went for a spot repair that I never liked.

2) Then shortly after, I bought new pair of rubber gloves for winter washing. I didn't realize that the gloves had a fine grit molded into them for grip. It was like I took sandpaper all over the car where my glove slipped off the wash mitt. After a $650 paint correction an polish, still not good enough for my picky self

3) The whole Takada airbag thing made me nervous too. My car was born in VA Beach (high temp and humidity)

SOLUTION - I traded it for a new Ruby 2016 GTP, life is good again (for now):)
Ouch!

Garage door stories. Before I was around, my wife bought a new 2001 Silverado. First day she had it, she pulled it into the garage and it caught the emergency door release lever and... You guessed it! Not a good ending for the truck or the door!

I have a low tech solution for my garage parking. I hung a tennis ball on a string near the front. When my windshield touches the ball I know the car is far enough forward.

My car got christened during the summer. I pulled up to a friend's house that was in the process of being built. We wanted to look around. My wife opened her door next to the curb and the bottom edge caught a piece of concrete. scraaaaaape! I cringed. Walked around to check it out and found a scratch on the bottom edge of the door about a 1/4 inch long. Nothing a little touch up paint couldn't fix. Fortunately you can't see it but just knowing it's there is bad enough for me.

At my brothers house last night for a delicious dinner, I tried to explain to one of his drunk assed in laws that I don't want to use a tennis ball because I back in and it would have to drag across the roof. I fealt like taking up boozing after that. And no I don't want the ball on the rear window, I'll get my ass out of the car and look from now on.

I never understand people who back in their garages. All that exhaust fumes in the morning. Yuck.

Some how, I have a gouge on one rear wheel that is perfectly on the top of the rim lip between the rim and the tire protector. I have no idea how it got there because it's on top and not on the side.

if it was debris, it would have had to of been the most perfect strike in order to make contact like it did... no marks on the tire.

otherwise it was some arsehole with a grudge.

I reverse park everywhere I go, including my garage. I've done this since I was 16, and it's a much safer way to park. It's safer to back into a known empty space than to back out into the unknown shared space. Quite frankly, since I've done it for so many years it's extremely easy to do and has become second nature.

Putting my downpipe on I snapped the bolt to the turbo and screwed up the threads trying to drill it out, new bolt is tac welded in which kills me knowing it. Driving a few days ago. I tried to get by a guy turning left at an intersection and hit the curb which punctured the sidewal of my less than month old new tires. Rim was not damaged at least

I find it easier just drive in and back out. It's always easier to back into a bigger space instead of back into a small gap.

I sure have. Pulled out of a super tight spot at a recent car show. I was boxed in on both sides and there was a wall/railing approx. half a car length in front of me, perpendicular to how I was parked. I was busting out the whole Austin Powers forward/back thing with my friend directing me.

He said "That's good, that's good!" and I thought he meant "That's good, you're clear, keep coming forward," when he actually meant "That's good, stop stop stop stop stop!!!!!" So my dumb ass kept moving forward until I hit the wall and ripped part of my passenger fender/bumper off the clips. Drove home with a flappy fender, and was pleasantly surprised when I got home that the paint damage was minimal, and the pins popped right back in, securing most of the part where the fender and bumper meet. It's kinda loose still, but pretty secure. I think the panel may have been deformed from the impact.

I still think "That's good!" was a weird way to say "stop!" but I'm not going to blame someone else for my own lack of awareness.
