Crank relearn function

Two questions.

Does anyone know enough to make an educated guess whether the nGuage can or will ever have an update available to do a crank relearn?

If someone was shopping for a used SCT X4, what things are important to get the crank relearn function. I take it that it doesn't have to be unmarried? I see reference to model # 7015, is that correct, seems to be for all new fords? Can it be a Bama X4 or just the SCT X4. Say I end up getting an used one that has old firmware in it, can that be updated for free somehow? Would just suck to buy one off craigslist and find out I got the wrong one. Any info on this would be appreciated.

Just curious, I love tools, and think owning a crank relearning tool would be convenient if that day ever comes that I need one.

Thanks.

What exactly is a crank relearn?
This is just what I've picked up reading the forums, so take it with a grain of salt.

It seems that during some engine/clutch work sometimes the car throws a code needing a crank relearn. If I recall this happens sometimes when replacing the clutch, I think I've even read someone got it when installing a supercharger, but can't recall. It seems to be kind of hit or miss, sometimes guys get the engine light and sometimes they don't. Sorry, wish I had more facts for you.

I have been endlessly reading up on those three options and this is what I have learned so far, this is info straight from BAMA and American Muscle reps.
-LUND can only be tuned by LUND, which is a huge drawback because if you want to boost tune in the future, you're going to want a dyno tune, not a remote tune.
-LUND, id mount it on the AC vent and I have the PP so I would give up one of two AC vents in center console, but that's not that big of deal #becauseracecar lol
-BAMA is just an SCT X4 rebranded with their name but it is not limited to many, many SCT certified dealers and tuners that are out there, in case you want a dyno tune.
-COST, goes without saying that BAMA is better for the price
SCT comes with default tunes, not "customized" tunes; idk how good they may or may not be, but ill take a pernalized tune vs a default tune all day
-BAMA has the tune for life, so if you adjust or make small changes. i.e. not change from NA to boost, they will adjust the tune for free.
-At first I was told that BAMA doesn't do E85, but I just confirmed from BAMA that they DO E85 tunes.

I'm still making my decision as I learn more details from our choices but right now, im leaning towards BAMA, for cost, free tune for life, and not limiting your choices of dyno tuners

SCT. 1. Crank relearn. 2. More options for tuners if you decide to go away from Lund down the road. Nothing against Lund, they are great...and they tune my car. But it's nice to have options should you want to switch.

The Ngauge definitely looks better and is more cleanly mountable. I just keep my SCT at home unless I need to swap tunes or log. I'm worried about what would happen if my car was broken into and my SCT, or your Ngauge were to be stolen. Would you be able to get a replacement and return to stock, and load tunes?

I do not need anything fancy looking because I do not keep things plugged into my OBDII. I've learned the hard way that it's a great way to keep yourself from truly enjoying your car because you become obsessed with checking the monitors and paranoia over "what does that mean". I use them to tune, and log and that's it.
Agreed. Having an Accessport mounted in my current and prior car, it is somewhat of a distraction after awhile.

I came across this older thread after seeing a youtube video of the Lund N gauge and it showed a crank re learn being done with it. Has the n gauge been updated to now do crank re learn I would guess?.
