  1. A few whipple questions

I would just do the stage 2 right off which also has injectors I believe- At least I know the earlier 2.9 stage 2s did. I would bet 75 percent of people who get a stage 1 end up buying the stage 2 parts or plan to. Easier just to buy the stage 2 kit and do it in 1 shot. My car had the stock...
  2. A few questions on switching from Whipple tune to PBD.

Thanks for info. I am not in a big rush as the car is pretty much garaged for winter but was just wondering around the time it takes for return emails. On the AIT harness since you never had Whipple tune you would have had that wire. When you switch like im doing you replace the Whipple AIT...
  3. A few questions on switching from Whipple tune to PBD.

I bought a PBD N gauge tune a few weeks ago and just getting started. and have a few questions for somebody who has done it. #1 I dont have the stock tune to install so I called PBD and the person I spoke to said they can send me a stock tune to load in N gauge to flash to stock to get started...
  4. Connecticut Whipple gen 4 head unit.

WTB. Gen 4 head unit only.
  5. 1000HP s550 budget build

I agree. I dont see the sense in having a big number on the dyno sheet just to brag and cant back it up anywhere because something will break when you lay into it. Just use what you have and tell the dyno shop to fudge the numbers as much as possible and theres your 1000hp sheet.
  6. Is worth the $ to go from a gen 2 whipple to a gen 4.

Like someone else mentioned I could probably pick up more with just a meth kit but if I ran across a gen 4 used for a good price 8 would snag it and sell the gen 2. I guess a 2 to 4 will make at least 30 or so but your gonna have another what? 1 to 1.5 lbs more boost so that tougher on pump gas...
  7. Is worth the $ to go from a gen 2 whipple to a gen 4.

Good info . I'm on a 3.625. So I'm gonna do a initial pull with the same tank of 93 with 2 oz per gallon of boostane. Then no changes but the pbd tune and irs getting dialed in remote so we will see with revisions and all around what it's worth. I put on a same size grip teck pulley for the hell...
  8. aluminator with a supercharger

I just meant compression wise. Even with my combo if I had to go thru the short block I would spend the little extra on Something like manly rods and pistons and a ring pack designed for boost. If its apart anyway might as well.
  9. aluminator with a supercharger

I think there is a happy medium if having to replace a short block on a motor that already has a tune and pulley combo I would stick with the same 11.1 in that case. I do like the fact of the older motors at 11.1 over the newer 12.1 for boosted cars. If I was going custom pistons I would...
  10. Is worth the $ to go from a gen 2 whipple to a gen 4.

So I decided to just do a custom tune with what I have. I wanted to snag a n gauge before they are all gone. I just ordered and went with PBD.
  11. Built motor question

A o ringed block would be a small groove around each bore where a steel wire type ring would be placed that sits up slightly above the deck so when the head is bolted down it puts a little more seal around the bore and less chance of blowing out a head gasket. Sometimes the heads are o ringed...
  12. Is worth the $ to go from a gen 2 whipple to a gen 4.

Well said. BTW what is the gen 5 stage 2 claimed hp at the crank or rear wheel out of the box with no other mods and using the whipple tune. Also remember the 18s and up start off with a point more compression and 35 more crank hp is it?. I always saw the 825hp crank hp from way back on the gen...
  13. Is worth the $ to go from a gen 2 whipple to a gen 4.

What I dont understand is all the claims of hp gains with each new generation. As the old gen 2 stage 2 was claimed 825hp at the crank. Going by the claims of increases per gen by now a gen 5 3.0 stage 2 should be 1000 plus hp at the crank on 91 octane it seems. Whipple even had listed gains...
  14. How to get Whippled GT in the 10’s

I havnt took mine to the track but have all the stuff you mentioned and still had a little bit of wheel hop. I changed out the rubber toe knuckle bushing to the ford performance derlin ones and adjustable toe links and it helped big time.
  15. Is worth the $ to go from a gen 2 whipple to a gen 4.

The kit came with those 3 pulleys back then?. I just see on most threads unless its actual race fuel or of course e 85 that most only go down to a 3.625. Anyone running a 3.5 with just 93 and octane booster?.
  16. Is worth the $ to go from a gen 2 whipple to a gen 4.

Thank you all for the help. I think I will just have the tune done and now have a good idea of what I hope to get done with it. I think I will have him do a tune for the 93 with boostane and leave some room for knock advance if I want to run a full race gas. I am gonna ask about a meth kit, I...
  17. Is worth the $ to go from a gen 2 whipple to a gen 4.

Do you mean so the timing will self adjust with the race fuel. Does anyone know how much timing the whipple tune allows timing to advance with better fuel and if it is possible for the tuner to increase that limit. Ilike that idea.
  18. Is worth the $ to go from a gen 2 whipple to a gen 4.

TY. I did think about doing that. I will run it by the tuner this week and see if he would want to tune it with a meth kit.
  19. Is worth the $ to go from a gen 2 whipple to a gen 4.

I think you all are gonna save me some money. I really wish we had E85 as I would put in a full fuel system, injectors, smaller pulley and tune but I guess it will just be a custom tune.
