Hey guys,

should I be worried about a scrap on a speed bump going about 5km/h?

I’m sure i’m not the only one who thinks everything is wrong after something like this happens. Like to my my steering felt tighter to the right vs to the left .. Idk.

I checked under the car and didn’t really see anything, and no leaks. No lights in the gauge cluster as well.

Don’t really know what scraped, the belly pan or what but it makes me anxious.

If your car didn't hit hard, it shouldn't be an issue. But I'd put the car on ramps to see where it hit. My car had a long exhaust clamp bolt sticking down quite a bit, so I just cut it, and now maybe the ones for the 2 long clamps stick down but just a hair, so left them alone. If yours hit that bolt, check that your exhaust wasn't bent, and doesn't have a leak. And just cut it too. There are giant speed bump where I live, so lowering my cars or adding anything that compromises ground cleareance is out of the question for me. And also due to all the crap you find on freeways and highways here. Let us know what you find :).

Until you get your car up on a lift and inspect for possible damage, yes you should be worried.

That helps
Honestly Jay, what else can I say. If you have any concerns, get it looked at.

A couple of years ago I was driving home from New York to South Carolina just after Hurricane Florence. Was on a secondary road at night when I went through some moderately deep water and then heard a horrible scraping sound. It scared the crap out of me. Was finally able to pull over and found the engine guard pulled down and scraping on the ground. Used duct tape as a temporary fix and then $150 to replace it.

It just totally depends on what hit. I bottomed out in a construction zone where the a**holes had a solid 4" drop from the pavement to the gravel. Couldn't see it because it was raining... it sounded awful. I feared the worse but all that happened was my rock guard tore off.

I avoid them when I can. If I don't have a choice, I go over them at an angle.
i think i was doomed regardless .. lol. A lot of people are saying i would have noticed something by now.

That 1.5087568% though...is it worth the risk?
If you get Covid your chance of death is twice that...
How strict are you with hand hygiene/masking up?

If you've looked under and didn't see anything and haven't developed any odd noises or leaks you can quit worrying.

I scraped the BMR full length jacking rails once. Should I be worried?

Wait, weren't we talking about speed bumps? But, I'll play along:

I was into hand washing and avoiding crowds years before it was cool.

Every meal since March has been made at home.

I wear a P100 gas mask (which I've had for years) at work.

We haven't been to any social gatherings.

My downfall will be all the steering wheels I lick.
