Funny that you bring up fragile. I was trying to inch my mustang into my garage on day one, but hadn't properly cleaned it out so it was a super tight fit. Instead of killing the clutch for the last 5 inches, I got out to give it a nudge from behind. This is something I'd often do with my old Mustang. So I get behind it, put my thigh up against the rear bumper, and fall forward as it practically sinks into the car. Right then and there I realized I'd be screwed if I ever got into an accident.
Take your soft, pliable bumper cover off, and check and see what's underneath it. Hint; big-ass metal beam, and massively stiff structure around the gas tank.

OP;

You we're going to share that the car has been "totaled" by your insurance company, at some point? It's totaled and you're getting a check for $17K$, and this is confirmed fact?

The car did exactly what it was designed to do. Did the insurance company total the car?

If you want to accelerate slower, then accelerate slower. It can be done in any car.
^^ this. Acceleration is all on you and your foot. I'm well into the 700s at the wheels, and I can accelerate slower than and old Volvo 240 wagon if I want to.

Mustang GT only scored 2 stars in the Euro crash test..

But did well compared to other muscle cars here in the USA.

I travelled approximately 20 feet before impact while accelerating from a complete stop. Sooooo (sic) if I’m driving a slower accelerating vehicle, my velocity at impact would be less.
Can't argue with that. If you plan to keep running into things, better to do it at lower speeds.

I daily drive in a car with a 148 hp engine -- can you believe it? Somehow, I manage to get to work and alllllll the way up a parking garage with such little power. I even manage to do 80 mph and accelerate faster than my surroundings, make it alive and well through mountain roads, stop in time for stop signs, and I even have the fancy new gimmick called Apple CarPlay! There are no rattles. There are no buzzes. The seat doesn't squeak incessantly. The paint hasn't chipped off the front yet in the same time I found numerous chips on my Mustang. I mean... how do I survive?! The humanity!!!!

Sarcasm aside, the Mazda 6 (especially the new turbo) is an excellent car. Buy it.

Actually it's 3 stars for 2018 up, taking major hits for child occupancy performance and safety aids, if those are important to you. I recommend not using a Mustang as a primary toddler hauler. Euro NCAP scores points for driver aids and the Smart and Safe is standard in Europe boosting the score (no other changes). Realistically any new car is leaps and bounds ahead of cars even 10 years ago. Three stars in 2019 would probably be 5 stars in 2009.

Mustang scored low in Europe mostly because Europe deducts points for lacking safety features (BLIS, lane-keeping assist, rear seatbelt tensioners, etc.). 2018 mustang increased to 3 stars for the added safety features, but still hasn't added enough to satisfy Euro NCAP. Structurally, however, the Mustang is fine, which is why the car has a 5 star rating in the US.

So, in other words, the mustang isn't any more "fragile" than any other car currently produced, it does exactly as it's supposed to do, which is keep the driver safe

Only reason I haven't tuned mine is because it will move to 93 octane versus running it on 87 octane like I do now for daily/poor weather. I've got the 10-speed as well. It's extremely tempting though.
I definitely recommend running quality 93 octane all the time if you can. At least 91.

Very good info. Thanks. And yes todays cars are miles ahead in safety compared to 10yrs ago.

Euro NCAP required (at least for when 2015-17s were certified) automatic emergency braking ration to be considered for a 5 star rating. There has been a shift in their system to require active features rather than just collision results. Similarly a majority of 2 door cars have lower ratings due to rear seat egress difficulties .

This is a topic that goes back and forth with this car.

I run Shell 87 in it and it's been fine for just regular driving. Honda states they recommend 87 or higher. It's not required, but I'm sure there are some benefits with it being turbo. As for regular driving, I don't think I would see much of a difference between both with the stock tune. Tuned, no question, I would only do 93 octane.

The Type-R and Accord, although similar engines, the Accord was designed to run on regular gas with different pistons and lower compression. There is a small power difference of about 10 hp when using Premium due to knock sensors.

Unless I was driving it like a bat out of hell, I won't see much of a difference till I drop that Hondata Stage 2 on it.

Lol, see above. Last thing we want to do is derail this into a gas debate with the Mustang. :(
