I've seen the threads about 18-23 Recaros swapped into 15-17 where what's needed is swapping the bladder and the OCS sensor from the 15-17 seat to the 18-23 seat. I assume this same logic can be used for FP Recaros M-63660005-MF.

Does anyone know if this will work with S650 seats in a S550?

Are the seat mounting points the same?

Can the bladder and OCS sensor from the S550 standard seat be installed in a S650 Recaro?

Only way to find out is to find a donor car and try swapping the seats. I highly doubt anyone has the measurements and if someone had already done the swap it most likely would’ve been posted by now. That being said, the body of the car is the same so it’s likely the seat mounting points are the same. But the real question is the electronics connector for airbag and occupancy sensor and if they will be recognized by an older BCM. Good luck!

Thanks. It's seems like a long shot and I'm likely not willing to be the guinea pig considering how easy it is to fit 18-23 seats by comparison (swap OCS under passenger seat). I was just curious since availability of S650 seats will be going up and S550 will be going down with time.

I was able to get confirmation that the seat mounting points are the same between S550 and S650. The rails have slightly changed, so you can't do an "easy swap" between S550 and S650 -- the whole seat must come out.

Not worried about the occupancy sensor on the passenger side, I can swap that.

Has anyone seen pictures of the S650 seat side airbag connector?

Yep!

The pieces of the puzzle I've assembled so far are:
  • S650 seats can bolt into a S550
  • Recaro airbags and sofa airbags are interchangeable
  • The OCS sensor on the passenger seat can be swapped
  • The connector on the actual airbags is the same standard 2-pin airbag connector
Still need to figure out the wiring harness between the airbag and the bottom of the seat

Edit:

According to Tasca, the airbags in the Recaro seats were unchanged from 2018-2024. We already know 2015-2017 can drive 2018-2023 side impact airbags.

Right now, it looks like worst case is swapping the wiring harness. I wonder if I can find a new one so I don't have to take apart the old seat.

Those seats are awesome. Let us know what you figure out, would be great if these seats can be swapped in with relatively minor modifications

I slept on this and decided to pull the trigger.

If my worst case is having to install 15-17 wiring harnesses, I can do that. Just gotta have patience and take my time doing it.

Alright well I have an update, good news and bad news.

Good news: I performed a test fit with a driver's seat. I set it in, plugged the cables in, and started the car. There was no airbag light. S650 driver's seats are compatible out of the box.

Bad news: I received two driver's seats. I'm in contact with Steeda, and I'm sure they'll take care of me.

I have a 15-17 manual passenger seat bottom with the OCS sensor and wiring harness intact to make the passenger seat work. I am confident it is possible to put a S650 seat in a 15-17 S550, just unsure if OCS sensor and/or wiring harness are needed.

Maybe wait until I can confirm the passenger seat exists lol
I want to see some pics first too so you better post some up when (if) you get the passenger seat LOL

In an attempt to help me get this resolved, Steeda received two passenger seats from Ford Performance. They got the other half of the mistake.

So.... Passenger seats do exist lol.

It seems like FP is not inspecting the seats, just sorting based on the labels from Recaro. The seats come from Recaro in Michigan and are then dropped off to FP.

I have a passenger seat in hand and I can confirm that the OCS sensor is different than 15-17 or 18-23.

All done. I just needed to swap the OCS sensor and reset codes, same process as putting an 18-23 seat in a 15-17.

Money shot first:

Seat with original OCS sensor

OCS sensors side-by-side, S650 Recaro sensor seems to have foregone the insulation

You just need to unclip the seat bottom to remove the OCS
