There are those that will say if you drive it any before water is dried you will get micro-scratches after drying it off. I also drive mine down the street and back before drying it to keep rotors from rusting and then dry it. Mine is white with blue stripes so micro-scratches don't show as bad. But if you drive car at all you will get micro-scratches that are visible in direct sun light. And dark (especially black) colors show them more. I just the other day saw a brand new black Corvette at my GM dealership they parked outside and the side the sun was shining directly on you could see micro-scratches. You can buy products that will temporarily cover them but I guarantee if you have a dark color you will in no time see them on car again.

The above techniques did fair. But if I drive around the block it typically still douches my wheels with either rust water.. or rust dust.. this is the best way I've found. I use a leaf blower to dry them at the end of the wash as well.

As stated above, a portable leaf blower to blow out all the water that sits in your wheel well after cleaning works great

I personally would never put any sort of "wax" or spray chemical on my rotors intentionally.. but thats me

Not if you wash it with DI water. Then no need to dry. My black vehicles come out spotless (and scratchless). Costs about $5 per wash with CR spotless system, the resin isn't cheap, but worth it to me as I can wash my car in 15min.

I'm pretty certain de-ionized water will not stop the reaction on iron. The rotors will show signs of corrosion.

Pretty sure he is talking about avoiding fine scratches on black cars by drying with a microfiber towel.

Yes, Yes and Yes. I was referring to scratches from dirt the car picks up if you drive it before drying it. I use DI water and the rotors still show corrosion. If you drive it a little after washing it the corrosion on the rotors dramatically improves, so very pertinent to the thread.

Stop wasting your time and do this.
Remove your rotors.
Clean off all the rust.
Buy brake cleaner and clean the rotors good.
Buy CRC deSqueak.
Apply a coat on the inner and outer edges of the rotors.
Also apply anti seize or high temp grease on the hub pilot hole after painting with crc de-Squeak.
Once dry, install the brakes.
The De-Squeak will not harm or cause any problems to the brake pads and is even safe on the whole rotor friction surface.
This will end your rust on the wheel barrel problem.

^^THIS^^ is my religious routine.

On another similar note...EBC is making their Red pads to fit our car. Should be out soon. That won’t do anything for the post wash rust, but it’ll all but eliminated brake dust.
Be careful with this. EBC reds are very far from a track capable pad on a car like this, and the dust is corrosive to wheel clearcoat. Major downgrade, IMO.
