I am sorry but I have never seen a mustang with a paint defect that bad form the factory. If there is a defect its not from the paint color match, it's something was hit or blemished from coming in contact with another part.
Uhm..... is one of posting in the wrong topic, or did you just fail to read the original post?

You mean the picture in the original post being repainted from a body shop and not factory paint?! Sounds like you were the one who failed at reading. Again, never seen any mustang from the factory with paint match issues. :like:

Yep the side tone is off. I would never do a dead shot I always blend into adjacent panels. Ruby red is a tri coat. So it's a bit tougher to match. I do a couple spray outs to see how it needs to go down. Mid coats use the most base. The base sealer color matters also. If you want it to match perfectly it needs. to be blended. I was in the dealership the other day and a mach e and a escape were sitting there. Bumpers didn't match the car. The bumpers are painted separately in a different location not with the car. There are different revisions of colors depending on what was painted before in the paint shop. Dirtier flop.
Lighter flop. Darker side tone ect... here's a pic of ford toreador. One color 10 different revisions

Color is definitely way off, have them redo it.

Also RR clear coat isn't "clear", it has RR pigment in it. If you ever buffed/waxed a RR S550, your microfiber and/or mechanical pad would have RR transfer on it because of the tinted clear coat.

That's not at all what you said, but okay....
But even if it was, I guess you didn't actually read what I said.

Your paint should be an exact match. It may be difficult to match perfectly with plastic vs metal but that's what you pay a shop to do. They clearly were lazy and didn't do the right job. I had my rear bumper and fender repainted and fixed after I was hit in a parking lot on my last mustang. The color was Guard Green Metallic (a much harder color to match) and my shop got it perfect.

Sorry this happened to you but I would absolutely ask for a repaint or a refund :like:
Well said I could not agree more ! !,And even the comment about plastic body parts and metal there parts being different. true to a point But That sticks out like a terd in a punch bowl!,,,

Awesome, thanks for all the insight everyone! I will definitely be taking it back, I think that I should be able to convince them that it’s off.

I don't know what brand of paint your shop used, but in any case, the link below is to some technical guidance from PPG on how to prepare and apply Ruby Red.

I had a body shop do my rear bumper a few years ago, and it's not a perfect match either, but it's "close enough" that I decided to live with it. (However, whatever clear coat they used is very soft and easily scratched.) In hindsight I wish I'd gone somewhere that used PPG.

I use nothing but PPG products. I've sprayed just about every paint out there since 1983. I like PPG for the ease of application, repair and product longevity.
