RST vs RXT

One rated for 800 and other 1000hp. I see most are running the higher up rated one , RXT, but maybe giving up some drivability. Is there a good reason to use the RXT over the RST if you are in the 600-650 rwhp range? Any RST owners having issues?

RST can slip at that RWHP level, believe me. It would be fine on the street, but drag radials or slicks would not be good on the track. I have ab RST on my 597 RWHP '05 GT and haven't had any problems, a couple of guys I know have and switched to the RXT. I don'thit the track but once every year or so for about 3 passes. Twin discs are great and McLeod makes a nice setup.

rxt will recover if it ever gets hot. Once the rst is smoked it is done.

Rxt is very streetable.

We are one of Mcleods top distributors and have quite a bit of experience with their clutches.

The RST is an excellent clutch for daily driving. It's smooth engaging and holds a good amount of power. For a stock or lightly modded car it's a great setup. With that said it doesn't like to get hot. So if you drive the car hard, plan to take it to the drag strip or will be doing a bunch of racing the RST isn't for you. The organic compound simply doesn't like a lot of heat and will end up failing if you are too hard on it.

The RXT uses a ceramic material which also offers excellent drivability and holds a ton of power. Since the ceramic material is more aggressive and grabs more than the RST it will require a little more rpm and quicker release off the line to avoid any type of chatter. It can still be slipped but will chatter if not given a little more rpm on the launch. So it's just a matter of relearning your driving style from the stock unit.

If you plan on tracking the car at all whether it be dragstip, road course or any other high performance driving where you will be hard on the car I personally recommend you to use the RXT.

We run the RXT in all of our shop cars. From completely stock to 1250rwhp the RXT has proven itself to be an awesome clutch.

Get the flywheel, the disc will not make full contact with the stock flywheel.

You're going to want the McLeod flywheel as the stock one won't make full contact with RXT discs due to the larger center section cutout.

I just toasted my RST... I am the second owner and it lasted 30k miles... it stank to high heaven... even my clothes had to air out. Still smells outside a day later.
