Roush vs Shelby

Although I never considered a Roush Mustang, I'm curious if anyone on the board did? :shrug:

I actually have no idea on performance, price, availability, etc of the Roush but on the surface they seem somewhat comparable and thought there might be some cross-shopping especially since it would seem the Roush is more accessible.

You can roush a GT, but you cant GT350 a GT. Not to knock on Roush, but there isnt anything special about those cars.

There is no shortage of supply. The dealer that made that video is Ray Skillman on the south side of Indianapolis. I was down there at the beginning of June and he had no fewer than 10 Roush Mustangs (various stages) on his lot, all sitting outside. I don't see them as being particularly rare, around here at least.

For me personally, I wouldn't consider the Roush due to it's low resale. The GT350 well cared for will resell for an exceedingly high percentage of it's original retail price as have other very special relatively limited production mustang. It is my understanding, please correct me if I'm wrong, that the Roush goes for pretty much what a Mustang GT goes for. I have all the respect in the world for Roush, but even with the same performance and technology (and the edge there goes to Ford) other factors are in play.

I've seen that video before. That guy doesn't know nearly enough about BOTH cars to be publicly comparing them.

One big problem with the Roush is the same as Saleen or for that matter Super Snake - it's an after thought. The resale isn't there. Because after all, they're nothing more than appearance and/or performance mods on a base GT. I'm a sales manager for a car dealership and appraise these things all the time. The Roush is just sick when it comes to power and performance but unless you plan to keep it forever, the money's in the GT350. Not to say you can't sell it privately. But as far as that goes, somethings only worth what someone's willing to pay.

Roush is just an ugly looking regular Mustang with supercharger and some different plastic. No idea why would somebody even compare it to GT350...

OK, I'm a Director for Team Shelby so take this for what its worth

I agree with everything posted above except the last statement. Looks are subjective and I'm sure some like the looks a lot. I prefer the GT350

But, Roush is very good to its customers and knows how to make them feel Special. Mike Rey does a great job with the Roush road crew and Jack and jack Jr are super people that could not be nicer. So, that is a part of Roush that people value

This is something recently that has started with Team Shelby do to the efforts of Tracey Smith. And with Aaron Shelby coming on board, I think TS will be in the same position except, Ford has and still does produce Shelby's

But I will never knock Roush, first class people

I also own a 15 GT/PP, and although not a true Roush it has a lot of Roush parts. Including the Roush TVS SC'er. The car is a beast!! I won't knock Roush for fake scoops because Fords been doing it for years. Above post is correct, the people from Roush are top notch for customer service! I do love my 16 GT 350 but the Roush is special in its own way,,,, 725hp way!! Lol

For the record, I'm not knocking anybody at Roush or its performance for that matter.

But, I'm not a fan of a bunch of tacked on scoops and cheesy graphics/slogans on a car. No matter who makes it. Or a guy doing a video that doesn't entirely know what he is talking about.

It's one of things that drew me to the looks of the GT350, is the lack of badging for the most part. Coming from owning BMWs that slap ///M logos over twenty times (maybe thirty plus) on the car is a bit much.

Both are beautiful cars. I am more of a suspension guy, and less about speed, so i go for the 350.
