So I got a Roush C.A.I. setup. I noticed a few things about the stock intake that I didn't notice or have seen posted online.

Picture of Stock intake

You can see the size difference in the 2 boxes. Plus what the hell is going on with the stock setup and the extra thing sticking out of it. Why do they waste there time making silly extra things sticking out of it.

Another picture of the difference of the size of the boxes.

What in the heck is this in the top of the stock air box and why is it there?

Size of the Roush Air filter compared to the MMR kit Air filter.

Last picture of it all done.

Now the $100 question how does it drive. I have no idea right now. This came in the middle of me polishing out the car for Saturday's American Muscle show. So I won't know until Saturday when I drive the car. Keeping it the garage until then. Just did swirl remover and got to polish and wax still left to do for tomorrow.

So i just took the car out for a drive. I already like this kit over the MMMR that i previously tried before switching back to the factory airbox.

The car felt good and didn't feel like it was trying to suck a tone of air through a straw like mmr kit did. Right now the Roush is sitting with the 85 mm mas air sleeve so i didn't have to do a tune right away. It has a little bit of a whistle again nothing like the other kit. It's barely noticeable with the windows open.

I couldn't get on it to see how wide open throttle was. Damn NY traffic. But sitting in traffic the iat would build ip. But as soon as you hit 25-30 mph they come back down. Overall i am very happy with this kit the fit and finish is really good too.

Can't wait to see what it does on the highway tomorrow when i make my way to PA for the American Muscle show.

The piece at the top of the box is a charcoal filter for emissions purposes. I had to look up the part number printed on it because I was unsure when I saw it too. The snorkels coming off the stock intake are just for noise suppression. Obviously the enthusiast is less picky about the sound than the typical buyer. I really like the design of the Roush intake. Does the seal rest right against the hood?

About to pull the trigger on this intake. Looks good how was it on your trip to the am show?
I really like this intake. Performed great no drive ability issues at all. I was also seeing the best gas mileage I ever seen by the computer. Was doing 70 mph going down the NJ turnpike back to NY.

It does get hot quick in traffic but once you get going the temps come right back down.

Thats amazing mileage, do these intake have restrictors?
A custom tune is not required as this CAI system was engineered and tested specifically for this application ensuring MAF signal performance matches factory settings. As a straight bolt on, with no tune, it’s possible to see gains of 10hp and 8 lb-ft of torque, a noticeable increase. With this kit you can also remove the MAF insert for a 105mm bore MAF and Custom tune your PCM for even more power. - See more at: http://www.roushperformance.com/parts/2015-Mustang-V8-Cold-Air-Kit.html#sthash.GEwvvkVI.dpuf

So probably silly question, but isn't the air filter now exposed to water through the hood opening?

I haven't seen any info on the maf insert and how that is removed. Is it just a plastic insert?

The insert is held in place with a couple screws located on the MAFS mounting pad/boss. Once you remove the screws, the insert will slide out toward the filter side of the intake.

Ok that's kinda what I thought just couldn't find any info. Do you have any pics of the piece removed by chance.

Thanks for the photos and write-up! Glad you're satisfied with the kit.

We've got plenty of these in stock for anyone else looking for them.
