All, 2300 miles, 2019 R. just started making a rotationally speed dependent clunking noise in the front end. Deal has thrown a lot of parts at it (I don't have the full list) but they cannot make it go away. Any thoughts as too what it could be. Wheel bearing? Strut related? Brake related? A thud that is speed dependent. Definitely rationally dependent.... Thanks in advance. They are calling in a Ford engineer.

A video or audio clip of the noise would be very helpful, also posting a list of what’s been changed would help.

Is it a metal of metal noise? You describe it as a clunk…. Only when you hit bumps or every rotation of the wheel?

I would love too but did not take a video. It started on a Sunday drive and went to the dealer the next morning. They are sending me a list of all that has been swapped. I will post when I get it. Not only when I hit a bump, but did seem to be more pronounced when the front wheels were off center.

Well, turns out just the left front strut. Makes no sense. I have asked them to look at the hub assemblies with the thought it might be a bearing.

I've gone through a couple blown Bilstein struts on my last mustang and they all initially made that noise you're describing.

A front (or rear) hub assembly if failing won't make a clunking noise and won't be sporadic. If a hub bearing is going bad, and depending how bad, you will usually hear a "growling" noise and it will increase or decrease with speed. If going into curves the noise will be more present if the car is leaning into the bad hub assembly. If it gets really bad, you will feel a grinding sensation, almost like driving on a stone driveway, or like mashing sand against the side of a bowl with a spoon... Also to note, a bad hub assembly also could induce premature tire wear. Easiest way to tell a bad hub assembly is to lift the car and grasp the tire a the 3 and 9 o'clock position and wiggle tire back and forth... if there is extreme play, it's a bad hub assembly. With tire removed, again if the hub is really bad, when you manually rotate the hub slowly by hand you can sometimes hear the grinding.

Any harsh clunking, thumping or banging in the front end that happens sporadically or say only occurs over certain types of road imperfections will almost always be either ball joints, sway bar or strut related (strut mounts or failed strut). As the suspension compresses/decompressed is where a suspension related noise will be most prevalent. I've also seen factory springs that have visibly failed (cracked) BUT where it won't make a noise until the suspension was under load in a certain manner.

Glad the shop found the issue and has fixed the car.
