Another vote for dryer sheets, for some reason Bounce seems to be the most effective....

Cats don't work for everyone. We have 3. What I find works well is to lay Bounce sheets on my engine and around my car. Mice hate bounce and should stay away.

Some folks make an easy trap with a 5 gallon bucket and a soda can with a hanger and peanut butter on it. You can then add water and any mice will be drowned. I'm not one for killing animals so I prefer the dryer sheets. You can use the bucket without water but most times the mice can get out.

Me crazy, and I can't help myself
The owner of obsessed garage (and also gt350 owner and poster on this forum) had his GT3's wiring harness eaten by mice. Now that would be enough to make you sick. Check out the video here:

in or outside?
Outside, Garage is used mainly for my daughter's hockey practice...:headbonk:

The mechanic at the dealership recommended a spray bottle of Critter-Ridder, so I picked one up at Canadian Tire, $22 bucks, hope it works...

I had to service a company Ranger pick up, so i walked out to the parking lot, started it up and drove it 150 feet to the garage. After i parked it i opened the hood and just about had a heart attack. There was a Possum laying on top of the V6 engine and he was barely moving. I left the hood open and the Possum eventually crawled away unhurt.:eyebulge:

I have a few that could help you with that ...

Get you a couple cats train them not to jump on the top of your car and watch the magic happen! :)

One of mine loves mice, rats or anything else that moves in the patio.
I can rent them out to anyone who is interested.

Last winter while checking fluids under the hood I found
a large nest of leaves, trash on the intake. No real damage.
Cleaned the mess and zip tied dryer sheets in various spots under the hood.
Also a few more dryer sheets scattered on the garage floor.
No more problems.
Although since its a daily driver -
parking it usually smells like clothes dryer.

^^THIS! It's cheap, easy and works really well.
Plus, it smells really awesome/clean. Make sure it's Bounce. Works great for me.

Kinda worried to see what I find when I get back to pull my car out of storage in Kansas. It has been sitting in a storage unit unattended since August and I still have about 6 weeks until I will be able to get it out of storage.

Neighbors stacked their hay bales near our property line, between their house and my shop. My border collie was killing a few rats a night. I had no idea a sweet, cute little dog like her could find so much joy in killing rats. She plays with them until she accidentally kills them, then she carries them around like a trophy until she gets distracted by something else. But she's not cat friendly, they must run for their lives, she will stop at nothing. So it's either or.
