woode;742601 Nobody said it's a chore. But when something is more convenient said:
Not sure if its more reliable verses a standard key, and no way is it cheaper. Not trying to turn this into a pissing contest, or maybe I am, I dunno. Either way I feel the push button start is silly, but still won't stop me from buying a mustang. :headbang:

You can't even unlock the doors unless the key is right next to it. If I'm at the driver's door and unlock it, the passenger door will remain locked even if someone touches the back of the door handle. Kind of inconvenient IMO, since you have to get in and press the unlock button every time.
with my wife's nissan, you can push the button on the door twice to open the passenger doors.

on the ford, you can program it to unlock all doors in the menu on the first touch, or just the drivers door. i have it set to unlock all, so i'm not sure if touching the handle twice will unlock the passenger door

you'd also probably prefer a phone that doesnt have a touch screen and have a rotary dial.

But when I enter without the key in my pocket, it says it can't locate the key. I just never placed it in drive or pressed on the gas pedal.

But that sucks. I thought there would be a security feature.
Go start your car, then take the FOB inside the house, and then go get in your car and drive it around ... that will open your eyes. What "security"? :eyebulge:

They make 94 mustangs for those of you who want to still stick in a stupid key

As far as someone else driving the car, hit the lock button while its running as you are walking away..........problem solved

I stopped at Target the other day and my keyfob was laying in the cupholder. I wasn't thinking and I opened the door and hit the inside lock button on the door and got out. I closed the door and my heart dropped!!! In that millisecond, I thought I was locked out. But the car honked twice and quickly unlock on its own.
That's how it's supposed to work. If someone can actually lock thier FOB inside the car, then something isn't working right.

I believe mine will unlock both doors if I grab the driver's side door handle. I also believe if I touch the passenger side door handle, both doors will unlock. You might have to go into the menus to set it up to do this.

Update - just did a test to verify, and it works as mentioned above.

Has anyone tested whether the doors will unlock from the outside while you are in the car with the fob? Maybe with the engine running and/or while in gear? It sounds weird bu my 2013 Taurus would do that on occasion. I call it "carjack mode".

Autolock Feature
The autolock feature locks all the doors when:
All doors are closed.
The ignition is on.
You shift into any gear putting your vehicle in motion.
And your vehicle attains a speed greater than 20 km/h.

You have to set up your choice in the driver's settings. You can have one or both doors unlock from the menu, I have mine set for both.

Spend an hour or two with the manual, you will pick up on something you didn't know.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but be warned as in the UK and i'm sure US people will watch where you park your car and wait for you to get out and lock the car as you walk away without checking the handle, they use a signal jammer which blocks the locking of the car as you press the lock button on your fob they then quickly jump in hit the start button and you've lost the car.
