I think I paid $550 -$600 for flex tune and 93 tune from Livernois with tuning device.
I couldn’t swallow $900-$1100 for the same or less for a name.
Maybe if I was highly modified I’d consider paying more but for stock, $1000 is a complete rip off.
Yep $600 for my Livernois flex tune including the programmer.

I hit up Shaun at AED and got quoted $1,030 for 3 fuel tunes and the device. That includes the datalog and the revision if need be.
His tunes have always been good and I’ve never had an issue so I’ll probably just use him again.

A tune from Wengerd is $1200. Kinda crazy but from reading posts here and talking to him via email he seems to be one of the highest rated tuners. Im sure hes busy as hell but hes always responded to answer my probably dumb and too many questions lol and explained everything well. I've read posts of people getting fucked up tunes from Lund and PBD and having Wengerd fix it and get them running smooth again.

he charges $700 for the tune, $299 for the RTD, and then $195 for the 4 credits.

Not sure about that. I only paid $299 for his tune for my NA JLT only GT. I had the device and credits already. Mine was for a single E85 tune only. Not flex or 93.

Shaun also only tunes with SCT, he wont touch HP Tuners like the rest of the universe... Thats what stopped me from using him. He claims they have more tables for the trans to refine trans tuning, but I dont see that being an advantage over whats available now from tuners that tune with HPT.

Plus he has a bit of an attitude. I tuned with him when the 2011 cars came out and he was a pain to deal with. He was using me as a beta tester for the idle lope tunes and power tunes. Our relationship did not end well.

I'm sorry. I literally got off the phone with him. We are about to push my car to 900 rwhp on the dyno next week at his shop

is there some glaring deficiency or risk to using SCT? Or it just another example that HP is 'new, shiny' (admittedly superior in some aspects), or that the profit margins are better with HP?

If there was a mass exodus away from SCT I would expect they'd kick their asses back in gear and try to compete and improve.

You can make more money selling credits for each tune/revision versus selling a new device when you want to add features.

Tuners probably get kick backs based on credits sold for hpt vs a one time software sale for sct.

Who you go with is up to you

Negative. You don’t not buy credits for each revision. You buy them for the vehicle. Then you can flash changes to your hearts desire.

Case in point I own my HPT MPVI2+ device and already purchased the credits for my car for it. I can run anyone’s tune for only the cost of their tune. The adapter and credits are mine and are good forever for the vehicle they are applied to. I have tried a few different tuners and generally only pay about $300 which is the cost for their tune/time. No more credits or new flashers/adapters.

I have also used the same adapter for my hellcat, ZL1 and now this new mustang.

I was just correcting your misinformation. I really don’t care what you can do with your sct device. It’s like Mac vs PC. Each user thinks their platform is better. My opinion is SCT is hanging on to the past with these expensive and proprietary flashers trying to keep up with HPT. I bought my adapter a few years ago and have used it with many different cars only having to buy credits for each car. And most other brands tuners don’t support diablosport and SCT anymore.
