I went on a 500 mile trip down to San Antonio a couple weeks ago, and I'm having to do the same for a last minute trip in a few hours (should definitely be asleep:headbonk: )

So I'm curious how often you all take your mustangs out for extravagant road trips! I hope I'm not murdering my car's life span with two trips back to back, but I'm confident she'll hold up. These Mustangs are just phenomenal.

I do LA to Scottsdale (about 400 miles door to door) every few weeks. There are a few sections of the I-10 that are no-mans land, most traffic is moving at 95-100mph so it's a good place to let the 5.0 breathe.

I've cruised at close to triple digits for 45 minutes or so and never had any problems, besides my average MPG. :D

These cars are beasts. Only weak spot for long trips would be bug splatters and paint chips on the front fascia.

I do about 15-18k miles from June-October (5 months). I beat the snot out of my poor v6 auto. Other then a factory recalled drive shaft and 3 oil change and tire rotation... great. The car is just 2 years old. Just hit 30,000. No complaints. 29-30mpg and trip 2 counter that I never reset since I picked it up says my ass has been in the car 752 hours! And these all season 18” good years are still going strong. I’d recommend anyone doing any real miles get some nice all season sport tries. Other then that drive it till it dies!

What? Huh?

Why do you think you would "murder your car's life span" with some road trips?

They're GT cars, says so right there on the back. You do know what GT means, right?

I put about 600 miles on it this week driving to meetings for work. I probably do a 300+ mile round trip 10x per year.

Now looking forward to my mileage reimbursement check....

I haven't had a decent sports car in a decade. I finally have one and for the first 8 months I had been wondering how not to kill it. Trying to find a way to not let it sit under the sun all day, commute 35 miles each way, protect the front end from debris, and anything else that someone would want to do to preserve the car. Guess what? I've almost traded my car in twice to accommodate this car and myself due to the stress of trying to preserve this car and meet other needs. At the end I said to myself, "just drive it to the ground. It's a mustang with parts available everywhere to rebuild it."

Just drive it, enjoy it, blog, flog(forum log, just made it up), and vlog.

Long distance highway trips are the least stressful miles that can be driven.

I really don't plan on taking mine on any road trips since I have a truck.
Maybe a big car show or something.

But I just went to see my parents new house in Tyler. I live in Baton Rouge and I was surprised the amount of mustangs I saw on the OPEN highway.

So must not be that bad.

It's a mustang and they are made for the open highway. Drive mine daily and no issues.

Just did Denver to SLC, 2 track days, then back to Denver.

I also do this going from Denver to Topeka and back.

The cars are more than capable and very comfortable for the drive.

These cars are GREAT for Road Trips! We take mine everywhere, usually 500-600 mile one way (1000+ round trip) kinda deals. Bought it to enjoy it and it makes vacations more enjoyable for me!
