I see these posts all the time, and I see some pretty high numbers, and assume either you guys are resetting your trip during a highway drive, you baby it and only do highway driving, or all of the above plus auto and 3.15s or something???

PP1 M/T with 3.73 and a heavy right foot...even on the highway at 80 mph cruising with 93, I'm only getting 20. 15-16 everywhere else.

OP, you also need to factor in elevation and terrain. You will get different MPG if you were in Kansas where it's all flat compared to Tennessee where there are mountains.

You need to reset to see what you are getting at that moment.

93 octane won't make a difference in your mpg's anyways.
But, as this point of this post was freeway mileage, i would expect people posting to be running tanks almost entirely freeway, and would show a higher mpg. I have only taken one trip of any real length in mine, and saw low 24s or high 25s(i'd have to look at my log to see exactly).

I understand that, and its the rockies that worry me, not the little ass mountains out on the east coast. But, fwiw, I am driving from VA to WA

I run my tank to empty, and fill it all the way back up with 93 and reset Trip 1. Every oil change (5000 miles) I reset Trip 2. Trip 2 has about 3k miles on it right now and it's averaging 16. I filled up yesterday and rest Trip 1 and right now after about 30 miles it's at 16.4 which is very average for me. I don't do really any highway anymore though.

My experience with cars, once you get above 70mph, your mileage plummets. RPM's and drag. Lower the RPM for a given speed, the better the mileage. and double your speed, quadruple your drag....

I have a 2018 Ecoboost Convertible. It is factory stock. In April I drove from Florida to Wisconsin. On the first leg of my trip, I averaged 32.5 mpg from Port Charlotte, Florida to Chattanooga, Tennessee. Nice sunny weather with temps in the low 80’s driving between 75-80 mph. On the second leg from Chattanooga to my home in Wisconsin I averaged 28.5 mpg. It rained almost the complete time during the second leg of the trip with winds of 20-25 mph. Also had to go through the mountains In Tennessee.

2018 gt pp1 took it on a 600+ mile road trip to pick it up. Averaged 77mph for the 9 hours or so. Got 25.9 mpg with the a10. Was really impressive since I wasn’t even trying.

300+ mile trip in Florida, avg 25 mpg mostly cruising at about 78 mph. PP1 MT was running about 2000 rpm. The GT only has about 1000 miles on it so I expect the mileage may get better. I didn't buy it with fuel economy in mind but it is nice to know that it is not too bad for a long trip.

I have a 2018 ecoboost automatic coupe. I travel back and forth between Charlottesville, Virginia and Lewisetta, Virginia. 150 mile trip. Going from Cville to Lewisetta I get 37 MPG at 65 mph and 35 MPG going from Lewisetta to Cville. Most don’t like to drive this slow. I do because I get to sit and cruise in the car longer this way and crank the tunes too!

Here's a report I made over at EcoBoost forum:

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/road-trip-fuel-mileage-report.121839/

TL;DR, averaged nearly 31 mpg over a 2600+ mile trip with speeds ranging from the low 70s to the high 80s. One of the best legs I averaged 31.3 mpg at an average of 82 mph (had the cruise set at 88 for much of the leg, but there were sections I had to slow down for construction). This was a high-altitude leg, which is evidence of how sensitive to speed/winds these cars are. I generally saw 10-15% better mileage at altitudes above 5K, mainly because the air is 10-15% thinner there.

I have a 2017 Gt automatic with a stage 2 whipple supercharger kit and average 12mpg on 91 octane driving conservatively with very few spirited driving/pulls from fill up to fill up. However this past saturday i drove 60 miles round trip and after filling up a full tank of 91 and resetting my fuel economy screen i managed 19.1mpg cruising at around 75 the whole way. Highest ive ever seen the car with the whipple added.

I just ran 2 tanks through of pure highway miles in GA. I averaged 25.5 cruising 70-80 mph depending on the road I was on...
In town I get 16-17.
2015 GT Auto 3:15 gears lowered but otherwise stock.
